I wish that Case, GEC, et al, would make a 3 1/2" single clip blade trapper. 1095 or CV or 1095 would be even better. I have 3 1/2" on order from a custom maker but I think that it would be a popular pattern if offered at a popular price point. Yeah, I know that Case makes a Mini Copperlock.

If it doesn't have two blades- a clip and a long spey- then it is not a trapper...

I agree. I would definitely be a customer for that knife. It's not like they don't have the tooling and designs done. All that is needed is to not assemble the spey onto the mini trapper and there it is. - Ed

Nah, let's call it a "single blade trapper" because that it is the proper terminology as used by Case, Schrade, GEC and Canal Street Cutlery and possibly others. - Ed

Case also made a mini-trapper with a secondary pen blade.

Does the extra 1/4" of the Canal Street Half Moon Trapper bother you that much? Aside from that it seems to fit the bill.

I'd also point you to the Fruitport "Scagels" with clip blades -- again 3 3/4" but a slim trapper frame with a great single 1095 clip blade (pinchable too).

I am familiar with the slimline GEC #48, Scagel Fruitport (I have and like both); and, the Canal Street Half Moon. Yes, the 1/4 - 3/8 inch matters. I find thin knives in the 3 - 1/8 - 3 1/2 inch range to be my preferred size for everyday use. Maybe I am being too fussy, but I think that others might like the "mini" sized trapper in a single blade version as well.

How about this by GEC

Didn't CASE do one with a Wharncliffe blade single??

Yes, I have one of them and it is a favorite, but I believe that at one time in past history they also did a single blade with a clip, but I'm not sure enough to say so positively. - Ed

I have a Amber bone Trapper that I had Muskratman remove the spey blade. It is a great knife.
It is the fourth one down just above a Camillus 717

Take a Case Mini-Trapper and have someone remove the spey blade for you.
It will be cheaper and faster than a custom

The vintage trapers with the swedged main blade and pen blade instead of the spay blade are some of the best looking knives. I don't know why everyone switched the pen blade for the spay blade for today's trappers. Who actually uses the spay blade for anything anyway? The pen blade is so much more practical and in my opinion looks better.

The Canal Street Half Moon is an amazing one. Their F&F is remarkable for a production knife.
