I like my Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri but man, I wish I grabbed a couple Beckers first then the Kukri, particularly the BK-9. Do any of you guys wish you could have gotten a Becker instead of something else you bought?

I'm looking at a $400 Busse and the more I keep looking and learning - the more I realize I will immediately regret it and wish I got a Becker.

I'm new to bushcraft (starting at age 50!) - and I do believe that I will ultimately become a Beckerhead (hate that name).

The only thing i regretted is buying an izula....so got a bk 14,24,2,2S(camilius),5 and 2 7s...i am a beckerhead and i don t mind the name at all...but i m also use to be called knucklehead so...

I actually like my Izula (&2) because I don't get harassed when carrying them in Chicago. They fill a role.

I picked up the 29.00 cold steel kukri and put an edge on it with the Worksharp, and took it camping. After about 10 min of chopping some dead oak limbs for kindling and battoning 1 piece it was pretty dull and I had a blister (I thought I had tough hands). I immediately gave the thing to my nephew and told him to beat it to death. Monday when we returned I placed an order for a BK4 and a 9 on Friday...
Love Them both but I am partial to the 4.

I bought and Ontario SP-8 and I should have bought a Becker. I thought it would chop like the 9 but I was wrong.

Yeah, if it is no the CS Kukri machete they are built kinda soft so that they are tough. Not really the best thing for dried oak, but hey, you beat on what is available with what is available.
If you strip the coating off of them it helps reduce the friction on them as you chop, you can also add a convexed edge.

Kukri's, Machetes, Kukri-machetes, and Beckers are all kind of different categories of knives.
Just sayin.

And yes, the becker will have superior steel, heat treat, and will definately out perform the machete on the dried oak.

Busse need to change there name to Safe Queens. And better a Beckerhead than a peckerhead:D But your never to young to enjoy bush craft.

and I would trade my dsa guardian for a king and 250 back

I was talking about the Gurkha Kukri.

busse is great I don't own any simply because I cant and wont buy a 400+ knife ever I mean you can get a nice bang stick for not much more lol!! as for the beckerheads its cool and I'm proud to be a part of such esteemed company!!! and no I didn't get paid too say that!

I picked up this BRKT Bravo Necker 2, CPM3V, Black G10, when I should have just bought more Beckers. I have never used it, literally has never cut anything, and it still sits in the plastic bag in my safe. I have never used it because I got hosed (big time) on the sheath, I mean the sheath is pure sh*t, and I'm not going to spend dollars to get a good sheath for something I'm not sure I want anyway........Maybe I should just sell it.

Not really.. Every knife I have purchased and there are a lot of the. I bought because they appealed to me in some way or another. Did I buy knives that I thought would contest my favorite beckers yes I did and was I wrong, yes I was. I bought a esse 4 as reviews were positive and comparable to the bk 16 and was not impressed when comparing them however I am impressed wih all my esse blades i just feel the beckers are more comfortable. I also bought a bark river bravo as I thought it was the best of big worlds between a bk 2 an a bk16 with length and thickness and I love how the blade handles however I would rather take a becker any day due to how easily A2 steel rusts. (Yes I am looking at the 3v variants but have other knives I want first).
I use all my knives from gerbers to busse's and like what hey all have to offer however i always come back to my beckers because the ergo's are great, good edge retention and best bang for the buck out there... Period.

Will I buy other brands, yes, and will I like them, most likely, will they replace my beckers, not a f'ing chance.

I didn't think I needed a BK9 until I handled one. Now I have two, debating 3.
