Shut it off, ABC, CBS, and NBC.

Go back to regular programming.

I want no more of your regurgitating of what's been said over and over again.

I cannot hear truth if I can't find silence in which to listen to my heart.

Give the dead dignity.

Give those left behind privacy to grieve.

Give those who profess a belief time to find it within themselves.

Your continued miscoverage/malcoverage is leading us into sickness.

Mob rule is evil and you are leading us toward that path for the sake of making more advertising dollars.

Freedom of the press as given by our constitution does not give you the license to pander or to prostitute yourselves or our nation.

Go away so I might lick my wounds.

I am only a newbie here, not anywhere near the many posts that you have Rusty. Your post is, well, aaaaarghhh!!

Not withstanding the Americans living in the US, how are we supposed to get the real news if you have your way? For us Americans who live and work overseas, you regime would have us cut off from any and all news other than what is tainted by pro islamic news groups. Is this really your intention for all Americans?

Are you really equivilating the continued news on this tragic event to what someone would throw up as after having eaten food that is poisened? Perhaps to those who applaud and exhalt over Americas tragedy yes, although I belive they would be more than happy to re-eat even their own extrament to see the horrific events re-enacted.

The truth is in your heart. You will find it irregardless of any turmoil around you.
Give the dead dignity.
The dead, as all who know who have been in war and lost friends or loved ones, will exhalt in the extermination of the perpatrators of their deaths. Their dignity will come with retribution.
Give those left behind privacy to grieve.
This I can respect. From personall experience, privacy and time to grieve is important.
Give those who profess a belief time to find it within themselves.
Belief has been established, +4000 dead and counting. It is within all of us already.
Your continued miscoverage/malcoverage is leading us into sickness.
Who's miscoverage Rusty? Are you refering to the what the entire world other than Muslim has to report? What sickness Rusty? Are you refering to Americans resolute resolve to hunt down and punish those responsible?
Mob rule is evil and you are leading us toward that path for the sake of making more advertising dollars.
Are you serious? Mob rule? Leading us to the Path? Are you a in sympathy with the attacks that have claimed American lives? Your post in this instance is a direct quote from anti-American Muslim news agencies. Again, I do not know you personally, but with so many posts in this forum, there must be many who do. Am I reading you completely wrong? What you have posted, if you were to speak to me on the street would call for immediate retaliation.
Freedom of the press as given by our constitution does not give you the license to pander or to prostitute yourselves or our nation.
Pander? Prositute? Where in the world are you coming from, both literaly and figuratively? It is obvious by this statement that you have not got a clue as to what freedom of speach means. It is as though you have lived in America, but are not American, but give only lip service to to axioms that you have read and heard.
Go away so I might lick my wounds.
Yes, by all means, lick your wounds. (Interesting that this is an old and venerable Arab saying that predates Christianity). The follow up to this saying in Muslim, is that once the wounds have healed, retibution will be exacted by the father, the son, and the sons, sons.

Rusty...since you are a co-moderator and are of much esteemed value in this club, what I am posting is obviously going to enrage a great many of people. I really do not have a choice though, your posted comments are just too out of the norm, too immflamatory and even if you are suffering from personal grief (American or Muslim I can not figure out) your post is not in sympathy for Americans or for any of the free world.

I came to this forum to learn about knives. So why am I posting this knowing that I will burning bridges. I don't know, I really don't. I only know that I am an American and want to know everything about what has happened. I want to read and assimilate every piece of news so that I may make my own decisions, and determine my own course of action. I grieve with everyone, no less, no more. I will exact retribution either personally or by continued resolve and support of my government.

Regular programming?!! What, for god's sake (not Allahs sake), would you constitute as regular programming?

Rusty,
The medias are indeed the "vultures" of our modern time and this is true all over the world. I share your thoughts and so does my girlfriend who is US citizen and lives abroad.

Fausto-
Italy is one of the very places where anti American news is being printed and so the term "Vulture" applies very well.
As for your girl friend...where exactly, in what country, does she live? If she wants to get unbiased, non-reactionary news, that will allow here to decide on the mitigating circumstances and facts, where does she look too?
The world has the right (and most especially Americans at this time) to hear All the news, from everywhere, irregardless of whether it is biased or extreme. The "Vulture" label I would absolutely agree with, but only from my perspective as an American of course.
Where I live, I hear, morning/noon/and night the rehtoric of Muslim calls from the towers with loud speakers. I do not understand what is being said, perhaps this is for the best, perhaps not.
So where do I and other americans living abroad, who are not currently in the armed forces, turn to to hear the truth?
If you and Rusty would have your way...then the answer is nowhere. Nada, no news, other than what we can gleen from the internet and personal phone calls and email.
Please reconsider your comments...news is knowledge, and knowledge is power. Only from power and strength will America be able overcome what has been set apon us. Make no mistake that this is just an isolated or transient occurance. Only through news reporting, even though it may be biased, or subjectory, which is only fair in the given circumstances...will Americans and free nations of the world who abhor the circumstances, cause and effect of terrorism, be able to erradicate the present evil and seek to remove the underlying causes of any future terrorism.
Lest you are lulled into thinking that this is an isolated event, which will not be seen again, I encourage you to wake up quickly from the dream world that you live in.

Rusty,

It's not what we see, but, what we don't see that bother's me. The presentation so far has been a little too sterile for me.

Blood has been spilled, and alot more will be run when the shooting starts. Sooner or later we are going to see alot of charred and mutilated corpses on TV (either our people or theirs). I just hope we are ready for it when that happens. I hate to think we may launch ourselves into something only to have second thoughts in the middle of it.

I remember when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor the paper boys of St. Louis where I was living then were hollering non stop 24 hours per day for what seemed like months. I know it wasn't that long but it seemed that way.

What is very bothersome to me are the net vultures. They don't slack off for anything. Even while the planes were crashing into the WTC and the buildings were burning and falling, people dying, I continued to receive my daily email ration of porno ads, insurance scams, investment scams and all the other crap that I despise so much.

Even worse, there are now the net vultures trying to capitalize on the tragedy and scam money under the disguise of helping the victims of this tragedy. "If you want to help send money to us!" Talk about vultures!!! These are the ones who should be drawn and quartered after they have been tarred and feathered.

Uncle: The coverage reminds me of the Challenger tragedy. I was in school at the time and it was a "snowday" in Ga. I was watching TV that am and I counted how many times Peter Jennings et al. showed the explosion. In the four hours I had the boob-tube on the total was 63. I thought it was in very poor taste. When they couldn't think of another synonym to redescribe the event, they'd use the explosion footage as filler. There indeed comes a time when people should keep silence.

There are all news channels. CNN, Headline News, Fox News, and so on.

In the United States, these are available at the click of a remote. I have no quarrel with them. Nor have I a quarrel with breaking into regular programing for live events, or running streaming updates on the bottom of the screen.

Outside the United States, I cannot comment.

I only know that for me it is time to lay the events aside for a while. The nation seems to have gone into shell shock, and ugly responses are on the increase.

I'm caught beteen the contradictions that 1) life goes on; and 2) life will never be the same. I have to come to some resolution of the two.

Nothing can remove the plight of America very far from those who care about her. I'm saying it is time for some normalcy and a break for those who wish to excercise it.

Disagree all you want. Just do it in a way that allows me to evaluate your points and see if I can gain or learn from your thoughts. Because, you see, I need answers too.
