I wish we could customize multitools

I hate needing to compromise with the tools on a muli-tool. Every brand and model I look at, has some tools I want and something I don't. The vic spirit comes close but it has things like a chisel and crate opener that I have no use for, and does not have the tweezers, toothpick, replaceable wire cutters or diamond file that others have. I would also prefer that the corkscrew was a permanent tool, instead of an add on. There are also too many plier based multi-tools without outside accessible tools, which I do not get. I know I am being picky, but I do not want to carry two different multi-tools plus a folding knife. In an ideal world, there would be a pliers based multi-tool with a saw, file, bottle opener, can opener, multiple sized screw drivers including a philips, a corkscrew, a reamer, a toothpick, tweezers, scissors and a crimper. All accessible from the outside, and locking. Rant over haha :roll eyes:

Anyone know of a tool that would have all of these?

I would love to ditch the scissors and eyeglass screwdriver on my Wave for something more useful like a chisel and an awl.

Scissors on a multitool are useless to me, I know lots of people got to have them, but I see no point.

That's a tall order you got there, doubt it exists.

Look into SOG tools. most of them are re-configurable. You won't find a corkscrew, but with a little custom work it would be possible.

Why don't you visit the modding forum over at forum.multitool.org

A lot of Rebar parts will fit the Wave, Including the awl.

There is no perfect multitool. You have to make a compromise with all of them for the most part. For me and my uses, I've found the Leatherman Surge and Victorinox Swisstool RS/ Reg Spirit require you to make the least amount of compromises with the tool selection. Supplementing a multitool with a SAK or Latherman Squirt/Micra is also a great way to get the tool set you want for an extra ounce or two. Hope this helps :)

An example of combo that gives you a complete toolset: Victorinox Original Swisstool/Spirit S and Victorinox Compact.

There is a plethora of YouTube videos on modifying Leatherman multi-tools as well as on modding Vic's. Here's just one of many...
