Two weeks ago, I won the "FIRE!!!" contest in a Jimislash live video.

How cool is that? 😃

So I wrote to Jimislash and said that I'm from Brazil and that I would pay the shipping fees. He said he would see what we could do and I sent him my address. One week later, I wrote again asking which was the prize, and told him I'll have to pay taxes in my country. He said he was on a trip and that I could either pay the taxes or to receive some stickers for free.

Fair enough. Another week has passed; he went home and did this video, but I still don't know what the prize is.

I will write to him again today, but at this point I wonder if to do a giveaway in this forum wouldn't be a better idea.

So... Would I be allowed to do this particular giveaway in this forum? Please remind that I don't know yet which is the prize and that only people living in the USA could participate. Remind also that if the prize is a Trail Master or a Natchez Bowie, I'll pay the taxes and there'll be no giveaway! 😆

Well, for the people that may haven't noticed the irony of the whole situation, I'll explain it briefly. 🙂

1) I don't have any bond with Cold Steel (apart from being a customer).

2) I never had any previous relationship with Jimislash (apart from a couple of brief comments on his channel).

3) I use different nicknames in this forum and in YouTube.

So I won a Jimislash contest in which the winner was supposed to receive something "cool". That's the word he used. However, instead of telling me right away what the prize was, the guy left me in the dark for two weeks.

But why I mentioned the "irony of the whole situation"?

4) Jimislash does not know that I voluntarily reported in this forum, in september, his deal with Cold Steel.

5) Jimislash does not know that I spontaneously assumed his defense in that thread, in which he was being mocked.

In short, the unnecessary wait and the lack of communication and interest were, for me, the actual let down. I agree that it's difficult to descend below a Kudu Lite, and that a Brazilian fan, who naturally doesn't have the same level of access to Cold Steel stuff, could deserve more. And I said I would pay the shipping fees in full... Still, even a Kudu Lite, heartily offered with speediness, would be "cool" and welcome.

I'm not ashamed for have defended this guy. After all, I'm a fan of 12 Angry Men... But it's all good, because I have learned a lesson that is more valuable than any "cool" folder.

You seem like a stand up fella, buddy 👍

I can tell you one thing already... After my watching Jimislash' video with him reviewing the Chaos Push Knife... Um, sorry, but he's highly unlikely going to last very long in representing GSM's Cold Steel in any real way.
I get that GSM is grasping for straws in an attempt to keep Cold Steel relevant with the many loyal customers that the company has had in the past... But, I can't imagine that even the seemingly oblivious/no clue staff at GSM will not realize what a brain-fart of a decision it was for them to use Jimislash in any way to try and achieve that goal.

My guess is, Jimislash will be slashed from the roster fairly quickly. It will be in their best interest to do so, since he'll mostly just be dead weight, or even detrimental to them, if they keep him as any sort of representative person for the company. GSM has really stepped in it on this one, backing out quickly is their best bet... But... Again, they seem pretty clueless about the brand and what really makes it tick, so they may choose to keep walking forward with doo-doo on their shoes 😆
I guess the saga continues... We shall just have to wait and see 😊
