…what happens to GEC factory seconds? There have to be some knives that don't make the final cut, in terms of quality. I wonder what happens to them? I know some companies sell theirs. I would buy a "second rate" GEC, even with no warranty. It would still be better than a lot of other new traditionals on the market. Just something I thought about.

Interesting thought...I would pick one up too! They might not sell them at all because they don't want cheesball re-sellers making their products look bad.

Yeah, I figure that's probably not really their style, although I wouldn't even mind if they stamped them or something.

They do sell them I have a 77 barlow that's a second if you google this you can find some I just looked.

great eastern cutlery factory seconds

Most dealers list them as EDC knives. Most are stamped with an S or 2 I believe.

had a 14 TC that was a S, supposedly thats a store model. but some take it as a second. either interpretation was good. i let it go cause it was too small tho.

I think there is a slight difference between the S stamped "store" models, and the 2 stamped "seconds," but I'm not sure of the details. Maybe Knifeswapper will come on here and enlighten us once again.

I have a 200920170529_162804.jpg 20170529_162733.jpg GEC #9 Esquire in Genuine MOP That has an S stamp and all I could find was a small circle shape that's a tiny bit lighter then the rest of the MOP. Other than that it's perfect.

I have I think 8 various knives with either an "S" or a "2" stamped on them. I have bought them from dealers, individuals and even from the Company Store. The issues with these knives have all been slight cosmetic issues. I would never hesitate to buy one if it is a pattern I am interested in.
Edited to add photos: Here's a few examples! :)
