I would like MT to make a Spring assist

I think if MT made a spring assist it would sell a ship load of them and most Knife fans can't own a auto but would love to have a MT that was close to it What do you all think ?

Not me. Assisted opening knives were something that I thought were cool when I first got into knives, as were microtech knives. As the years have gone by I have realized that microtech isn't really that cool (shoddy business ethics and gaudy over-designed knives aren't exactly my thing...), and assisted knives are often less convenient for me to use quickly and put away than a good manual action folder. You live and learn I guess. I suppose you could say I've simply refined my tastes and figured out exactly what I like rather than something that just seems like it would be cool.

I see your point but I'm still new to knifes a few years, and I think that
If MT made a Assisted it would apeal to people who can not own an auto
I also think that a good folder is king but variety is the spice of life
It seems to me that MT has a bad rep?

took the words right out of my mouth. assisted opening appealed to me when i was into the walmart knives and started an edc. now that i have refined tastes and preferences i realize the most useful knife for me is one i can open and close as fast as possible to limit the time cutting and maximize my time continuing the taste at hand.

Ok I can see that a Assisit is not for everyone but
Why hasn't MT made one? Lack of interest it seems
I do like a smooth opening folder I will get over the spring thing one day
Thanks got the input!

I would like to see Microtech make something along the lines of a Socom series knife that is spring assisted because it would just give an option to some people who want something like an auto but not an auto, yes I know some of their knives have a bearing system in them and they work just as fast as an auto but I still would like Microtech to make a spring assisted knife. That is kind of my opinion on it.

AO, not for me. I just wish they would make a flipper version of the Socom Delta, my hunt for the perfect folder would likely be over.

if they could come up with an original design at an affordable price id be interested. too bad neither of those is a possability.

I love manuals but my main edc has been a BM581 barrage with axis assist. Its super fast and the reason i bought it, but i dont think its the main reason i love it. Its a great knife in hand with a great blade shape and steel. I predict these next few days will be some of the last it'll ever see in my pocket because my first crk is in the very near future. Iv had other assisted blades but this is the only one i have left, others were traded off, sold or given away. A well built manual is where its at and most can be flicked pretty quickly anyway.

I know a AO mechanism design they can steal...:D

Seriously though, AO seems to already be moving to the background, the 'new hot thing' is bearing systems and MT is already using them.

Just get a speed safe kershaw or ZT... if MT did make an assisted opener, it would just be a copy of something kershaw is designing

I have the BM 581 as well and I like it a lot great knife,
I think a flipper Socom or spring assist Delta would be a great
Knife I think Kershaw spring assits are great and I have a few but a I
Just think a MT one would sell well and I would buy one
I bought a MT matrix when they frist came out I didnt know
That it was a clone of a ZT But as I looked around on the e~net
It's was and it has been a bumer for me as I like it a lot
But I order the ZT and Im still waiting like most of us
And because of the MT ZT thing I started to look at Kershaw and ZT knifes and
I now own four Kershaws and a ZT 200
I still like my four MT knifes a Tiny bit more but that's just
Personal chose I hope MT never makes a clone Again
A bit off topic but if you talk about MT this always comes up
Thanks for all the input Guys

And it SHOULD always come up. I will be sure to bring it up every time i ever see a thread about MT knives.

if someone chooses to buy MT anyway, that is of course their choice, but I think everyone deserves to know before they buy

I am guessing that by your post you have not handled a manual socom elite by MT. The strong detent of the lock bar causes that knife to act and feel like it is assisted while being totally manual.

I see u troll just about every MT thread talking about the Matrix/777 issue. But I have heard ZT accused of ripping off an MT design. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/856679-Bradley-ZT-amp-Protech-OTF-Knives-from-2011-Blade-Show In this bladeforums thread I posted it appears that ZT may have ripped off the scarab at one point. I don't see this talked about much or taken into consideration and I don't know the back story or the resolution but there may be two sides to this strange and seemingly rare spat in the knife industry that ZT and MT have with each other. I would personally like to know the facts since every MT thread on this forum has a totally thread derailing dump taken on it.

He's not the only one what "trolls" microtech threads... and if there's evidence of ZT copying someone, feel free to post a thread about that. I'd like to see it. There IS evidence that MT did it... that makes them a no-go in my book, and everyone looking at them deserves an opportunity to know about their business ethics. Ethics matter to a lot of people, and not everyone knows that MT has stolen designs.

BTW, i know about the "scarab" issue, and there was no ripoff there. ZT made an OTF prototype that was in no way a ripoff of MT, but Marfione apparently didn't like the competition... that's where the "spat" began

and ZT never went into production on that OTF

I do have a Socom Elite an I have a Delta on its
Way. Yes it's very smooth I never thought of it that way
Hmm maybe what I need is a whale shark with the flipper
But they look a bit bulky I like the slim feel of the Socom
But haven't handled one yet, interesting about the Socom
Thanks, I guess I need to EDC my Socom today I have just
Receved a Hogue that I bought from a fellow blade
Form seller but it can wait .

Not to take this further off point but yes it happened and it was a crappy situation. But the fact is that it has either been handled or is being handled and IIRC it was asked that we stop bringing it up. I am sure MT will be taken to task by Kai's legal dept if there is legal recourse.

Back on point, I guess I am just not a fan of AO. Seriously thinking about de-assisting my new Cryo. I don't like the lack of control on opening. Maybe I'm just a control freak.

My socom elite came pretty tight and holding it pointing straight up if I push on the thumb stud till the blade detent releases the blade will fully deploy. Perhaps you may not get the same affect if yours is more loose.
