Hello,
This is my first post here, but i have done some lurking the last months

I have ordered myself a benchamde griptilian today and a boker gemini for my brother. Since there is a big difference in price, i would like to know: what about the difference in quality?
I am looking forward to your comments on any of these 2 knives

the grip i think you all know, this is a pic of the gemini. I think they look a little bit alike

To end my first post, i would like to gongratulate you guys with this fine place for knife enthousiasts to hang out! keep up the good work!

I have never handled a Boker from what I have read here in the past the Boker will disappoint you when compared with the Benchmade. The one in that picture looks like it has a paper thin liner lock where as the Benchmade's lock will never fail you.

These are just my observations. You should tell us your feelings about them when they arrive.

I think some people feel Boker's quality is not as good as it used to be.

So much of how a knife feels and acts is subjective. It depends on the ergonomics of your hand and what you expect your knife to do. It is much easier to go to a quality knife store and actually feel the knife you are planning to buy. It will tell you volumes on how it will serve you as you use it over a long period of time. Short of that, make sure that you have the right to return the knives you bought for a refund if you or your brother are unhappy. For what it is worth, I think that it is pretty hard to go wrong with a Griptilian, or for most of the newer models of Boker. Glad to see you here!

Well, another way to look at it:

The Benchmade Axis-lock beats the Boker liner-lock anyday of the week!

Good luck,
Allen.

All of the Benchmades which I have handled lately were much nicer than the Bokers. The locks on the Bokers were loose and the overall fit and finish quality just wasn't there.

i doubt you own any custom linerlocks made by the industry's "heavy hitters" - don't lie either, i've seen your drawer! :D

properly made linerlocks are as failsafe as any other locking mechanism.

the axis locks i've handled had a VERY flimsy feel. to each his own.
