I would like to see a Sebenza in person...

I have posted this in the Sebenza forum also, just more people browse this forum

I, like a lot of people, have been drawn to the Sebenza based solely on all the hype from this forum. Personally, I don't think the plain Sebenzas are all that attractive, but I can appreciate the finer things like fit and finish that are alluded to regarding the Sebenza. If I were to ever purchase one, I'm sure it would be one of the wood inlay, or at least a computer graphic one, just because of the added appeal. I, of course, would have to save up considerably. Then, I would have to try to convince my wife that I am not in fact as crazy as she tends to think I am for wanting to buy a $400 knife. I know, some women just don't understand.

I don't live near any dealer that sells Sebenzas, so, short of buying one out right, I have no way of basing my own opinion of them. Anyway, this brings me to my request. I have seen several people on this forum state that they own several Sebbies. I would like to ask if anyone is trusting enough to let me borrow one for a few days just so I could hold one in person. I wouldn't do any hard testing, or anything to damage the knife. I would pay for insured shipping both ways and only keep it for a week (or more, if you didn't mind).

So, if anyone is willing to step up to the plate, and try to add another Sebenza fan to the group, please let me know. If you would like to remain anonymous to others that might bug you to do the same for them, please e-mail me so we can discuss the details.

Please, no "Are you crazy?" "You must be kidding!" responses. I'm being very serious with my request. Based on what I have seen in this forum, there must be at least a few people that would like to help me out, although I only need one. I would really like to see one of the graphic ones, but really, any one will do.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I doubt anyone is going to accept your offer.Instead why dont you purchase one from a dealer that offers a money back garantee? If you aren't happy with the knife return it unused in perfect condition.I believe you will like the sebenza enough to purchase it anyway.

There are a lot of people on this forum. I believe that there is at least one person here that would like to help me out. As far as buying one, the whole "return it unused" part wouldn't allow me to base an opinion of it since I wouldn't be able to do anything with it. Anyway, I recently saw a post where someone stated that a guy offered to let him borrow theirs without even knowing him. I chose not to mention the guy he was referring to, as I don't wan't to "put him on the spot". If this guy is interested in allowing me to borrow it, he can e-mail me, and it would be anonymous.

What about the passaround?

It doesn't look like that is actually going to happen. Anyway, after paying for my part, and shipping, I would end up putting more money in than I would if I just had to pay shipping two ways. BTW, I'm still interested in the passaround, if it ever comes to fruition.

Looks like it might be at least a couple of hours, they probably have a selection of sebenzas though.

It's about 3 hours drive I guess. I have only been to Cary one time, and it was seven years ago.

It will happen! I promise! :D

Medic1210, The last knife show in Charlotte had a few. Check when the next knife show will be in Charlotte and drive on over.

Good luck,
Allen.
