I would like to see a Stainless handled Endura with harder steel

Hello all, and hopefully Sal.

I'm quite disappointed that this knife doesn't come with a better steel. If you look the Native stainless model, it comes with AUS-10, while this model comes with AUS-6. So what's the deal? I think it's time to update.
Thanks.

Hi Pergatory. The Stainless Endura and Delica are "price Point" models to permit a lower cost stainless version. AUS6 is a decent steel (comparable to 440A, considerably better than 420J2).

Making the versons in a more exotic steel will raise the price considerably.

Pergatory, If you realllly must have a stainless Endura with better steel, you could send both an Endura and an Endura II into a custom maker and have them switch blades. Heck, I bet you could send 'em into Spyderco and they'd do it for a minimal charge.

I don't really need a stainless Endura, but it seems funny to me that the native stainess model was produced with aus-10 steel. Thanks for the input though.

Hi Pergatory. The same reasons are not used for different models. As strange as it may sound.

The Stainless Native was produced in Japan because we were having a tough time getting the Domestic Natives produced. We thought the Stainless version would take up some of the slack as the demand was high. So we used a higher grade steel. As it turned out, the Stainess Native took longer than expected as well.

We also wanted to test AUS10 in a production folder. We'd made kitchen knives from the material, but not fodlers. Currently, the Native Stainless and the Solo "Button lock" folder uses AUS10

And there is also the military, right?
I checked and it looks like it would be the same size and feel as the Endura. For some reason that model is the only one my local deal doesn't carry (at least I've never seen it in the shop)
