I don't know who wrote it but she should have signed it. Some powerful words. This woman should run for president. Written by a housewife from New Jersey. This is one ticked off lady. The woman who said this has my vote if she ever runs for president!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?

Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was 'desecrated' when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?..Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia .

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don't care !!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add:

'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem' -- Ronald Reagan

'If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.' Also by.. Ronald Reagan

One last thought:

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: 'A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in.. And how many want out.'

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom."

I know I used to get forwarded that letter from the "Female Marine Colonel" but it was so full of inaccuracies that I knew it was a fake. Still inspirational words no matter what the source.

Been around for a while now. Of course ,it isn't a real letter. It was created as a political implement about three years ago. It gets sent around the Internet as being from a soldier in Iraq, a housewife, a laid off worker, etc..

The truth is, that it has a lot of truth in it. Unfortunately, our system has become so screwed up that whether we care or not doesn't matter. The politicians will do what they want anyway.

I could tell after just a few sentences that the person did not care.
Personally I find it much more productive to work with people who do care and that have a broader understanding of the world and the people that live on it.
If whomever wrote this, were to find their neck under the boot, with the owner of said boot yelling down to them, "I don't care" it might give them a slightly different perspective.

So, let it be known; I do care, not just about myself but about others also.
If this makes me appear weak to others, so be it.

Some of you may not care... untill it's one of our soldiers who is being tortured and abused in captivity by another country's military... and then you'll probably be the people screaming the loudest that the other country needs to pay for how they're treating our soldiers... yet it's your own not caring that allowed it to take place in the first place. If the USA is to remain a world leader, then it must do exactly that, lead, and lead by example. Do as I say and not as I do does not work.

Claiming that "well they did it first" is no excuse for lowing our own standards to another enemy's level.

I think you missed the point, the letter writer doesn't care about terrorists. Nor do I. If they get crushed under the boot of a military machine or an angry soldier, who would care.
If someone is willing to blow up their own people without remorse they don't deserve my caring.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll have a new fishing buddy.

Yes, but the letter, written as a tool for the republican party, blatently ignores the fact that the people who these are done to are NOT necessarily terrorists. Are you telling me that Maher Arar, a canadian citizen and a victim of US "extraordinary rendition" was kidnapped from the US, flown to syria, tortured on behalf of the US, forced to sign coerced confessions, and then let go when they figured out he wasnt the guy they were looking for is OK and you dont care? ...That the US government is violating the 5th amendment right to due process by kidnapping people and holding them without access to lawyers, without charges, and without access to the court system.. and you dont care?

As the poem by Martin Niemöller says

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

-Pastor Martin Niemöller

I am with you on this Fred.

This message looks like Propaganda to me. Some one does not want you to care. I dont feel telling you folks my opinion on this Crap is going to do any one any good so I will Shut up now.

Have a Great day!

"If someone is willing to blow up their own people without remorse they don't deserve my caring."

Two things here #1 their own people may not be acurate. #2 How do you know they feel no remorse for what they do? Sometimes people have to do things they do not want to do.

I don't care if a terrorists is captured, tortured, coerced, shot, kicked in the nuts and set on fire becaue they are our enemy and don't deserve constitutional protection that U.S. citizens enjoy. They gave up their rights to our protection the moment they raised a hand against us. They should be treated as an enemy of the United States and their treatment should be governed by the rules of war and stipulations of the Geneva convention

I do care about people who are falsely accused of terrorism and who are treated unfairly but the letter never referred to those falsely accused or mistakenly identified as terrorist.

the letter also refers to "mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana", Sounds to me like they more than willing to set off a suicide bomb and they they weren't being forced to do something they didn't want to.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would strap a bomb on their back walk into their village or town and blow it up regardless of colaterall damage and feel remorse.

I now wish I hadn't started this thread.
Starting it in another forum may have been more prudent.

We are above all else, on this forum, knife makers.

Maybe moving it would be, appropriate. The political arena, possibly.

Well the words are alike but our sentiments could not be more diametrically opposed, which makes me regret that Stacy’s astute observations about our "friends" in Washington tempted me to overcome my better judgment about posting, and is also why I agree that the thread would be better off in a forum that I don’t visit. The only thing I have found that is worse than alcohol at dropping our reason and inhibitions about civil public behavior is politics:(.

In the past, I believed that politics needed reason to function.
Today it seems like reason gets in the way of the rhetoric, so is ignored, for the most part.

It seems to me that discussing politics with people whom you do not know, online, will not lead to any sort of rational conclusion. I do not know any of you folks. Nor do I know your true feelings on these topics. The subject carries with it many strong feelings and people tend to want to form sides and/or fight. It is far too easy to post something that can be misconstrued. :foot:

As much as I enjoy discussing politics I should not do it on a forum.

I personally hold no hard feelings, and bare no grudge against any of you folks. In the end, we do all want the same things. And that is to be safe at home with our families and make knives.:D

Have a good day!

IF you accept Snopes as the final answer to whether something is true or false, then, as Will suggested doing....it is false, However that is as to the source of the statement.
For the heck of it, Snopes says http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/foster.asp

Just my opinion but we Americans have so terifically much to care about, maybe there just isn't time to care about something that isn't something we have time to care about..
With comments like that, I might oughtto consider becoming a political speech writer, don't cha think?
