New and improved pics of my late 1800s-very early 1900s Wostenholm hunting knife. The overall length is about 10.5 inches and the blade 6 inches. I think these were sometimes called 'Cowboy Bowies' . I included a stag-handled corkscrew from roughly the same time period just for fun. I collect antique corkscrews too.

Beautiful. After a great hunt, a nice glass to toast it with!

I wanna play too!:p
Here's one I picked up about a year ago. Came with the original sheath that's stamped "made in England"

That is a beauty knowtracks. Thanks for showing it. Is your knife the same size as mine? My knife does not have the inscription on the lower part of the blade.

I would like nothing more than to do a little hunting with you SK and Dave, using those vintage beauty's to clean our game and then toasting the good time by using your vintage corkscrew...:)

Yes, S-K same size. The inscription reads "Original design by Colonel James Bowie"

Very nice Wostenholm Bowies guys, great to see them, Love that extra inscription on dave's IXL. There are many stories around about the knife that James Bowie was reputed to of been found with when he was killed, many have said it was an IXL Knife, Did James Bowie work with Wostenholm on this design, there have been many questions asked about this, although there does not seem to be any concrete evidence. I understand that some years back the Alamo Museum had the very knife that was found on James Bowie, but it had been stolen, was it an IXL Bowie? I at least would like to think so.

How cool are those! Thanks for sharing.

Look at those patinas! Beautiful knives. I know it might be sacrilege for you collectors, but I would use the hell out of those babies!

Use it I do!!!
Field dressed 3 elk with it last season. Takes & holds a great edge. Kinda large though, I use it on large projects & it goes camping.
