show my stupidity, but I got a question. I own 2 sebbies(smalls), 2 BM (921 & 940), Buck/Mayo and a mini-commander. I'am seriously leaning towards getting a Microtech, I like the look and have no second thoughts about the quality. I have only handled one.
Question: The Microtech website shows only one manual knife, all the others are autos. With all the knife knuts who own a Microtech, are these all autos ? I would be concerned about breaking the law by carrying an auto, etc. Am I missing something with the push button thing ??
Someone please set me straight.

thank You,

Stinky

Also, I 'am active duty military, but I doubt that will suffice for me to carry a auto ???

Right you are on that. It is a common myth that just being in the military (or law enforcement) instantly allows you to lawfully purchase, own, and/or carry an automatic knife.

Don't know about the law stuff--but there are a lot of manual action Microtechs including (but not limited to): LCC (my personal favorite), Amphibian (also a favorite), Vector, Kestrel, Dragonfly/Tachyon (balisongs), and probably some others that I'm forgetting. They do seem to put more of an emphasis on autos, though.

If you appreciate the precision and quality of a CR knife, you will i think see the same thing in the Microtechs. It should be said that a BIG part of their appeal is that they are primarily autos, and they make some great autos, but they do make a few manuals too, which are still very well made. Many of the manuals are i believe out of production, well, until they re-release them next year.

Im pretty sure the Amphibian is now discontinued, as is the LCC last i heard, as is the Manual, full size SOCOM, i dont know whether they are currently making MA Kestrals or Vectors, but i dont think so, however, you are in luck, because MT is about to release a new version of the manual SOCOM which has a framelock! Thats the one i personally would be looking for if i were you. It is supposed to be coming in a month or so. Go to MTs website to see a picture of it, well, how about i just post that picture here.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that (probably important) detail--a lot of the manuals are being (or have been) discontinued, but they are also still available for the most part.

That new SOCOM is pretty nice...

If you haven't yet looked the Master Of Defense (MOD) knives.
I highly recommend that you do so.
The guys that make them used to work for microtech (I'm pretty sure)
And all of their models come in manual also.
My personal favorite is the Trident.
