I’m sad but I could see the writing on the proverbial wall....just announced.

#ICCE SHOW 2019: MARCH 29th & 30th in Fort Worth Texas!!!!

The Knifemakers' Guild Board of Directors and the American Bladesmith Society are glad to announce that the 2019 International Custom Cutlery Expo will take place in Forth Worth, Texas.

The Show dates are: March 28th, 29th, and 30th. It will be a two day show, as many members requested it, with March 28th being the set up day. Friday, the 29th, the show schedule is 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturday, the 30th, the show hours are 9 am to 5 pm.

Stampede Room
140 East Exchanged Ave.
Fort Worth, Tx. 76164

There will be between 100 to 120 tables available. The tables are $300 each. In order for Guild Members to get tables at the ICCE, they must have their dues paid up to date. To reserve a table, you can make a payment on Pay Pal to Jerry Moen's account: jerry@moenworks.com, or send a check to:
Jerry Moen
PO Box 1461
Addison, Texas 75001-1461

Information about hotels, directions etc will be provided soon.

A 3 hour drive becomes a 9 hour drive, but at least it will be spring break so there is a chance... better start working on the family now...

I hope it works out....

My problem is that without a show that was close, like this one, I’ve more than likely attended my last knifeshow.

I’m basically done traveling and as the big shows, aka Blade, have turned into a Circus Freak/Sideshow I think I’m all done.

I hope to continue to be able to place some orders with various Makers but as most devolve into Lottery’s, bids, first come first serve, ‘I don’t take orders’, etc., then I’ll be completely done....after 45 years of collecting.

I’ve met MANY great people over the many years I’ve been involved , and it’ll be sad not to see all of these friends face to face anymore but it is what it is.

Dudley: You make a good point. Shows have changed DRAMATICALLY in the past ten years, and it's not going in reverse.

However, those points you make are not happening to every table, and I submit that there are 10 'old school' tables and makers you will enjoy for every one with a lottery.

That said, you might get to shake my hand for 30 seconds. Gotta go! Haha!

Oh stop buddy and come to Blade ....I’ll get you what ever you want :)

Correct!

And, ".....it’ll be sad not to see all of these friends face to face anymore."

Those faces will still be there for you to see - knives or no knives.

I reached Dudley's feelings several years ago. I used to travel a lot to knife shows, NJ to CA several times. I'm a bit older than some of you and feel fortunate to have made a lot friends, collectors and makers, but the collecting dynamics have changed for me. If I order many more knives, most will be from makers I see on here, I think my last to came from them.

The Guild has been pretty aimless for years, some great makers dropped out, new makers don't join, it's a shame. I hope this year is fantastic for them. I know ther ABS is partnered with them but I've always been more in tune with the Guild.

Dudley,as bad as the Blade Show seems to be, I still enjoy it. It's just a hoot and I see more friends there than anywhere.

You should come to the Arkansas show, it's old school and not that far from you.

Or the Fisk micro show, most fun I've ever had at any show!!!

I guess my gripe, other than the Circus atmosphere, is the fact I’ve tried to help support MANY an up and coming Knifemaker over many years only to basically be shunned after they’ve made a name for themselves....won’t return a phone call, email, text, etc., plus the fact that if I had all of the custom knives I’ve ordered, been promised, etc., these past decades I’d have twice as many as I do.

I guess I’m not the Fan Boi that will buy any kotchkes, ie., bottle openers, beanies, tops, pens, coffee mugs, and all the ‘stuff’ that seems to be the rage these days, plus being asked to pay thousands of dollars for a CNC’d knife made by someone else and then (poorly) assembled and barely sharpened by said ‘Maker’.

Ok, I’m done with my soliloquy and I wish all of you only the very best....a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all.

^^^ Haha! Yes, that's a 'circus'. Makers have become POPULAR (Rockstars?) and then lack the social skills that notoriety has rewarded them. I guess. Stick with tried and true.

Paul: 11+ years available: I have NOT been approached by principals from the Guild or the ABS for my support. Whatever...

Dudley, you been hanging around the wrong makers. lol

Damn, the one show I enjoy, which was only a 1 hr drive, was Nordic's and now they are in Boise, along with their shows. The AKI is a horrible drive, takes me three flights to go there from only 400 mi away, so I thought I would never be attending another show.

And then American Airlines added a single daily nonstop from San Luis Obispo (15 mi away) and I kinda rejoiced because the ICCE was moving to Ft Worth. But their service starts on April 2!!! I suppose the show operator could move the show forward a few days? Uhuh,lol:(:cool::eek::D:poop:

Sooo, looks like I still won't be attending a show anytime soon, no way unless nonstop. The bod won't put up with anything but nonstop, even in 1st.

I agree with Coop, this could turn into a good show. But it will go down the drain if not promoted well! It's not a "build it and they will come" kind of thing.

Promote something? Whats that mean?? :P

You should totally come to Arkansas! We would totally make sure you had a blast.

Their loss! I can't tell you how happy I was when you agreed to come to AKS. One of the best things for the show, I think. :)

Hopefully, the move is a good thing! Moving a show is hard. It usually means the attendance of a show will take a hit. I did move the location of the local show that we have in DeQueen and it didn't seem to hurt it's attendance as much as I was worried it would.
