Has anyone had any actual experience with "Ice" Damascus which is damascus that is etched. Does the finish last or is it like the colored finish on Sebenza's that must not be used?

I dont get your post. I etch most of the damascus I use. I have never heard it refered to Ice. The etch I use does not come off cause the acid actually removes material.

Is this what you mean by Ice Damascus?

If so it is Damasteel stainless damascus acid etched to leave the hard layers mirror finished and the softer layers a frosted silver. It will not come off it is part of the metal surface not something that is added later.

Thanks for the reply. This finish was on Greg Lightfoots Web Site and I ordered a LCC with that Damascus. I had not heard it referred to in that way but George I think you are correct in the process.

Can you tell me how this damascus holds an edge and how hard the recomended heat treatment is?

I have wondered about it for some time and just never think to ask. Thought this might be a good thread to do that in, while I was thinking about t.
