Me and my bud went out ice fishing this morning. It was rather cold (-34) but if you don't haul your butt out of bed you ain't gonna catch no fish. Got stuck with the truck on the way to our spot on the lake. It was snowing/blowing and I guess I didn't see a 2foot snow drift and we got hung up. Had to shovel the turck out (takes a long time with a army folding shovel) to get going again. We park the truck and drill some holes. I needed the extension so I'm guessing the ice was a good 45" or so. I've been ice fishing many years and I've never landed a master walleye. Well my buddy that lucky sob hooks one within 5 mins of us scooping out the holes! The bigger one is 28.5" and anything over 28" is a master up here. We stayed for a couple hours, had some laughs and caught some fish. We just parked the truck sideways to the wind so it wasn't blowing all that bad.

I used the RMD to kill the fish by performing ike jime. Big fish actually have pretty tough skulls but I had no problem pushing all the way through. I also gutted all the fish with the RDM and it cut through scales and bones effortless. The thing is, it was so cold that any fluids instantly froze on the metal so I wasn't able to wipe it off. I was a little worried about the edge rusting but I washed the knife when I got home and there is no rust anywhere to be seen. Very happy with the RDM and now she's bloodied. I'm going to field dress a deer with it this fall. I'm sure she will do great.

Just thought I'd share. Wife and I are having fish tonight :)
