A couple of questions, here.

1 - I'm likely heading off to Iceland later this year, and will be there for a long period of time. I have way too many knives and, obviously, want to take some. If I can carry them, awesome. What is and isn't legal to carry in Iceland?

Someone please tell me I can get away with my Strider SnG for EDC and TOPS UTE-01 for fieldwork and I will love you forever...

2 - I have a Spyderco UK Pen Knife (the old one with the black G10 grip slabs) and still have no idea if it's actually legal to carry. I've measured the blade length at 3.5", the UK law says 3" maximum, but it was designed to fit around UK laws. How does this work? I carry the damn thing every day so it'd better be legal (without getting into the 'good reason' crap)...

Cheers

Question 1 has been (mostly) answered by the Icelandic embassy:

According to Icelandic law on weapons no. 16/1998, chapter V, article no. 30, it is illegal to carry weapons in public. It is legal to carry knives/blades where it is considered normal, for example for work or hunting, or when it is not considered to be dangerous. It is also illegal to import to Iceland, manufacture, acquire or own knives/blades if it is longer than 12 centimetres, when it is not meant for domestic use or for work.

Doesn't really define a 'weapon', though, so I guess I'll just assume that means all knives. Which is an absolute crock, frankly.

I guess I'll taking my SnG for fieldwork and that's it...

I asked them to clarify the definition of 'weapon'...

Weapons that are considered offensive according to the law are for example: knives with blades longer than 12 centimetres, featherknives, feather daggers, swords, clubs, clubs with spikes, crossbowes and slingshots.

It is considered illegal own or carry knives if the blade is longer than 12 centimetres, when it is not meant for domestic use or for work. If the blade on your knife is shorter than 12 centimetres you are allowed to carry it.
Can't argue there, although I was looking forward to carrying my crossbow around Reykjavik.
