I've been out of work for a while and need to start selling off some knives. I haven't kept up with Busses at all for quite a while, and I am trying to retrace my steps from when I bought these.

I believe they all came from the 13th Knoboganza on 11/3/07 (based upon pics at bussecollector,) but I can't recall what I paid for them and I'm not sure where to find the info. If it's permitted here, I would also appreciate an idea of what a fair selling price to ask for them on the exchange here would be.

Looks to me like they are, from top to bottom in photo:

1) Nuclear Badger (or BATAC?) (I see a couple for sale on exchange, don't recall what I paid for it.)

2) ASH1 Variant(?)

3) ASH1 Variant(?) (I seem to recall this one showing up in the company store not long after I bought it, but at a lower price. That was a little perplexing!)

Thanks much, and I apologize in advance if anything I'm requesting here is not allowed.

I traded a Nuke a while back for about 700$ in value, but that was when the market was up. Right now, I believe there's one listed for about 565$ or so. I hate to say it, but you really won't know the value of it til someone buys it. The market is fickle right now, and the things selling are the classic, hard-to find knives.

Good luck,

J

I think A fair price would be :
1. $500
2. $400
3. $400

I have seen ones for sale here and on Flea bay for these prices.....

There seems to be a couple of Nukes in the $575-600 range currently there. By 'classic, hard-to-find', do you mean things along the lines of old, straight handled kind of stuff?

Ouch! I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I'm pretty sure if was significantly more than those prices. Perhaps I should pick some different ones to try to sell first (I've got others, and don't really want to lose my shirt if I don't have to.)

Thanks for input so far!

Exactly. People tend to spend more on things that have been out of production for a while (unlike tac handles and fusion handles), and/or things that weren't produced in the quantity that knives are produced in now.

If you can stand to sell them, you might be better off choosing knives which are a little older, and do NOT really closely resemble knives of the past 2 years or so. I'd say, FBM's, BATAC's, GW's, and ASHes probably won't make you very much these days. Gen 3 handles such as the SJ and BAIII might make you some money, as would anything with a straight handle. Even the Ergos can be hit and miss.

Good luck,

J

The ASH1 Variant @ the Company Store is a Skinny ASH1 Variant , so if your is a thick one,,,,,there's the difference. The others gave good approximations,,,,,but like everything else in this world of supply and demand,,,,,,prices and peoples minds fluxuate conciderably. Hold on to your blades(INFI), they're worth way more than mear money(cloth and ink)

Thanks guys, I guess it doesn't hurt to put them up and see what happens. I don't have any straight handles, only newer stuff for the most part. I don't have to make money, but I don't want to lose much either, and it seems like I would. I guess it still looks better than my 401K statement...

Have the newer Busses saturated the market with higher production numbers, or is this more about the current state of the economy?

PS I thought in the past I had seen a site that gave original selling prices, but didn't see that info on bussecollector. Can anyone steer me to where I can find this if it's available?

Actually, if you look in the catalog on bussecollector or hogcult.com, there are some prices. Depends on the knife.

I think there have definitely been more of the recent knives coming out of Wauseon than did in the past. Laws of supply and demand, ya know? It's great for Jerry and crew, but can be tough for us. Hell, I've had a BATACLE on the market for awhile. Just happens that way some times.

I don't think you'll lose your shirt on these. Put 'em up and see what happens. Good luck.

Jason

Thanks Jason, I see some pricing there for some of the standard run models but I'm not finding anything for the ones I pictured above.

Would I make out any better with any of these, do you think? I'm not in desperate need of money RIGHT NOW, so I can be a little patient and/or selective on what I sell and when I do it. (Besides, I didn't realize how many I had...they just kept coming and coming as I pulled them out!)

You have a nice collection there, Paul. I would say you'd probably have some difficulty selling the PD, and the SOW, as I've seen a LOT of the SOW's on the EE, and a few of the PD's, though I don't remember a camo as nice as that.

The Euro variant up top is a great knife, and if it lacked the serrations, I'd think it'd go pretty quickly. That knife would probably be a great user, too.

The SFNO variant, I've seen a few of, but seeing as how it's got Snake, there's a chance it could go.

The SJTac variant...I don't know. Seems like the Tac handles are either hate-it or love-it.

The HR is pretty typical, and you might not lose money on it, but you won't make any. That's probably the easiest to sell, though it would have to be priced pretty well.

I'll send you a PM and we can continue that way.

I managed to find the old thread with the prices I paid; do you feel the prices you quoted before are still about right for what I could get for them on the exchange?

1. $587.00

Nuclear Badger Attack Tac. Satin finished with Olive and Black G-10 handles

2. 697.00

ASH1 Custom Variant with Magnum Black and Tan G-10 handles and a satin finished bowie style blade.

3. $597.00

ASH1 Custom Variant with scalloped spine and black G-10 handles.

Thanks again.

You might be able to sell them for what you paid for them but the lower prices I listed would sell fast, I think? ......

I saw a ASH like yours # 3 that sold on flea bay for under $400!!! I think it was Mr. Knife Hunters....

If I were you I and I wasn't super fond of any one blade I would list them all with each one at a price you feel comfortable letting it go for and see what you get in return. You don't have to sell any thing you don't feel is a good move and people might shoot you an offer that looks good...you never know until you put em out there.
