My apologies about the first post and thanks to those who made me aware of my newbie error.

I won a storage auction that had lots of collectible knives. I have been able to identify most of them and their values, except for a few. One is a nice stainless steel Camillus dagger with sheath. If any of you know anything about this knife, I surely would appreciate any info you could provide. I have photos I can e-mail. Thanks!

Hello and welcome. You'll probably have much better luck posting pictures in this thread. You can use photobucket.com.

Camillus made thousands of different knives over the years.

Best way to get an ID is to post a pic.

Here are the photos:

It's a version of the Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife.

I don't know anything about this one, but somebody will :)

Welcome to the forum. :)

I am not sure what you did wrong.. Try to right click/highlight the 'forums board' option link on your phtobucket pictures then come back to you post and left click the captured link.

If you still have trouble you could email me the pic's and I will assist you if you like?

EDIT TO ADD: Good show kjbenner.

Wow, thanks so much kjbenner! And thanks for your offer to help, suunyd! I'm googling the knife now that I have an idea what it is. Just trying to find a value for it.

It is the repro of the Marine Raider Stilletto.

The originals had cast zinc handles; the repros had cast pewter handles.

Camillus made some with blued blades & gold etches that came with a display case & plaque.
The remaining blades were satin finished like yours & sold to Smokey Mountain Knifeworks if I recall.

Phil, I did a Google search and found this info on it, too:

On 20 April 1942, within days of Fairbairn's arrival in the United States, the Marine Corps contacted the Camillus Cutlery Co., of Camillus, New York, and placed a substantial order for a new pattern Fairbairn-Sykes.

The new pattern incorporated a cast aluminum hilt. This Marine model Fairbairn-SYkes was produced in 1942 only, with 14,370 knives delivered in two shipments. Scabbards were purchased by Camillus from the Mosser Leather Company.
