ID help please

I purchased an axe head marked US92. It has light pitting and some of the original forest green paint remaining. Weighs 4 Lbs. and measures 8X4 1/2. Any ideas? Net says Verona but I'm concerned it may be a WWII vintage because of the paint. Would like to post pics, but I have to pay to attach? Any help appreciated. Thanks
 
All military issued axes (tools) were Olive drab green (OD) a flat finish paint over a primer. Most of their WWII axes (full size) were a 3.5 Lb. head.

All evidence points toward a Verona Tool Works made in 92, that someone painted green after it was purchased. Pics might help. Non paying members can post pics but not directly from your computer if I recall.
