Did my best to google, this appears to have the Wetterlings marking, along with drop forged, it originally had blue paint on it. Was this a cheaper offering by Wetterlings at some point?

This is my kindling hatchet, had it for a while. It's a plumb, but on one side it has the letters NSCC (or NSCO) inside a crest. The letters VH appear to be in there also. My theory is that this is was a carpenters hatchet that bears the markings of some larger company or business, and then the craftsman struck his initials into to it. I have no idea, maybe you guys do?

Thanks. :)

As recently as last year, Wetterlings had a lineup of drop forged axes in their online catalog, as well as the hand forged models. The drop forged ones weren't sold in the USA though, and I don't know where they were actually made (does Wetterlings also have drop forging equipment at their factory in Storvik?).

From a 2011 thread:
...I can't find this exact one listed by Wetterlings. On their website here, under products/drop forged, they have the available models, but this one doesn't appear to be there...

i see a few of these SAW's . ran across one last weekend in a shop. the fellow was asking $20. looked almost unused , blue paint intact.

i have one of these SAW hatchets.the handle on mine was almost rotten. i re-profiled it into a Hudson Bay . the bit is not real hard.
