I'd like to buy one Khukri, but don't know a thing about them.

Can someone help me out. I don't necessarily want to go on the Himilayan Imports forum as well because it naturally seems brand biased. So, I'd like to spend some moola on a good Khuk that will last me a lifetime. I tend to shy away from natural handle materials because in time, the won't last.

I'm looking for a great quality one that will last me and take abuse from actual use. What do you suggest? How are the Cold Steel Khuk's?

The heavier the kukri the thicker the branches it can cut. My 24 oz one is really heavy duty for trees etc. For a lighter one I have a very nice agrussell .I use both often.

I would actually go with teh HI khurkris... They are the real deal, and the results prove that they are as indestructable as blades get.

BTW, if you check the prices, I think they are very reasonable.

I guess that's why they have over 10K posts on their forum.

Thanks all,

Cliff

You can't go wrong with HI. Great knives, great prices, and I can't imagine receiving better customer service than I get from HI.

Buy quality the first time, and it'll last a lifetime. I've never had any issue with natural handle material, but if you're concerned about it get a Chiruwa model. My Chiruwa Ang Khola has a full visible tang, two big pins, and has an unconditional lifetime warranty: break it and get 2 free ones. You can't go wrong with that.
