I started my first knife ever last night, and was thinking about after I'm done with the handle and sheath I would make it into a stationary pack knife. What do you guys think?

Not sure, it is made out of an old file.

Hard to say from the pics, what are the specs?

Old file: probably carbon steel, 1095?

Yeah, I was thinking 1095, the only thing I really know about the specs are 4 inch blade and 4 inch handle, and the width is a little under inch.

I'm making this knife like green pete did on youtube, and it is very simple!

it looks like a nicholson file with every thing ground off and i looked it up and its not 1095 or O1 or W2 its similar to 1095 and its HT in just about the same way
