Hello fellow blade enthusiasts, I am brand new here and I was hoping to gather opinions about your ideal size of the microbevel or secondary bevel at the cutting edge of, say, a camping/fishing knife, to be used hard but with some basic care.
I have always been one for very small micro bevels as I like the way they look and the increased speed of sharpening (to the same angle) has always proven to vastly outweigh any potential* reduction in durability. I'm not convinced there is an appreciable difference in durability in any kind of reasonable use case - no prying/bashing/etc.
Please see the below image and share your opinions or experiences. Does a small microbevel make for a weak knife in normal use?
