This is the only knife like this i have seen. Tang of drop point blade is marked "Camillus". The seller claimed it came from "The Camillus Company" collection.

I've not seen this gut hook blade on another Camillus knife. It's very stout.

It is a nicely made, well fitted, strong, useable knife. Handles are a birdseye Maple.
Lovely knife, but i would like to know it's origin. Having only "Camillus" as the marking is not the usual, but the frame is a Camillus pattern and has been used in numerous different offerings.
Was this an SFO ? or regular run, or made after the plant closed by assembling available parts ?
And was there a Camillus Factory Collection, like the Schrade Wall idea ?
thanks for the help. It is truly a fine knife.

This knife is a regular production item. I have seen many of these through the years.

I do not believe that this knife came from the factory collection. I routinely inspected the factory collection at the Camillus factory and never saw one of these knives. Most of the knives in the collection were much older and many were prototypes that never went into production. Many of the knives were made by other knife companies with a large amount being imported from Germany. Samples of Boy Scout knives that had been submitted for approval were common. The collection also included a large quantity of Robeson knives that were left over after Robeson was no longer a customer.

The factory collection included two "Exposition" multi-blade knives. Today these knives would bring in excess of $10,000 each and they are rarely offered for sale to collectors. Several Anheuser-Busch Stanhope knives were in the collection. The Stanhope was a small photograph inserted into the knife handles behind a magnifying lense. The photo showed Adolphus Busch and he used these knives as a calling card for his customers. The last run of these knives was in 1948.

Some knives srom the factory collection are being offered for sale at this time. I provided copies of the factory records for the seller to accompany the knives. You can view this offering by doing a search for "Camillus Factory Knife Collection".

Thank you Tom. I guess those who own this Camillus knife are hanging on to them as this is the only one i have seen on ebay. I'm proud to have it. Everything about it is just a perfect fit.
