ID on French ring pull?

Hunter knife same as made Manufrance (pre WW1 catalogue) St Etienne ref 5536, blond horn.
Charpentier probably the seller's shop's name.
Pattern name couteau à palme, aka cra-cra (from the noise when opening and closing) with a wooden handle was standard issue Infantry knife at the oubreak of war (#40 000 delivered).

It ruled farms and villages for decades since 1885, good quality per buck ratio, each year the catalogue was a very expected event. People would order by mail, wait and then pay to the postman! Besides there were retail outlets in many cities. Most was made in the factories of St Etienne, it made the city famous in fact, was leader in guns, cycles and sewing machines . Refused to work for the nazis during WW2. Still exist today but is only the shadow of what is used to be.
They also published le Chasseur Français (the French Hunter) monthly, famous for articles about game hunting and for matrimonial classifieds. 😀
