I found this knife under a deck that was being demo'd. It was built back in the 70's/80's as far as I can figure. The only lettering I can find on it just says "stainless steel Japan" on the bottom of the one blade.

F&F is a bit shoddy since the scales don't line up with the brass end caps and must've been like that for some time judging by the wear on the corners (they have been dry for the last 6+ months, so no swelling). As for the steel itself, it sends like a decent stainless, takes a decent edge and it's still clean, not near as rusted as one would equate to being partially buried under a deck on a salt water bay, water front house.


 
If the caps are brass they will clean up. Steel looks good for where it's been, as you said.

You may have a keeper.
 
Wow, not bad. I usually only find worms and chewed up dog toys. Brasso will shine that brass right up. A little flitz or even WD-40 on the blade and you're good to go.
