Well, finally got to head out of the city and into the great outdoors again.
Saturday, a couple of friends and I heading to the farm of a guy one of them knows. There are 15 acres of woods on it, with an extremely tiny cabin (straddles the line between cabin and shed).

Here is one quick woods shot:

Once out there, I trade a cord wrapped Ek dagger from the mid 80s to my friend Ian for his Prather War Bowie. You may remember his post about that knife:

There was one mention of the drama Llama that is Jeff Prather...well, the knife is toad-approved, so that concern is nullified.

Used the War Bowie to make a baton. Pull saw to make cuts front and back, then stab, pry and cut away all that needs to be removed.

Then I decide to make a dual tripod bench.
Lots of searching for straight sections of branch, tree, etc.
Too much work, and didn't want to cut down the whole damn woods to make a bench.
Decided to split some lengths to double what I had. Used the Expat Libertariat Machete. Wrist was getting sore from shock though, so made a wooden wedge to assist in splitting the wood lengthwise.

Combination of batonning and wedge works great. :)

We were going to take group shots of all knives in the morning light, but the rain came in hard.
Just loaded up the ATV and headed back to the vehicles.
Ian returned to grab his gear (couldn't fit everything in one trip), so he got this daytime shot of the cabin exterior:

Tiny!

Anyway, that is about it.
Much food was eaten (too busy eating to take pictures), and many, many knives were out there, including the TOPS Longhorn Bowie, Cold Steel Vaquero Voyager, ZT 0392PURBLKWC, a Mora of some form, a Spyderco Harpy, and others I am forgetting at the moment.

And we didn't get eaten by the packs of coyotes that had moved into the area...but we didn't get to eat them either, so I'd call it a tie. :D

Tough sleeping in that Porta John sized shack I bet........Hope there wasn't any rotten socks about....😉
Always enjoy seeing your adventures...👌

Was a great night out for sure, glad you enjoyed it. Think I might get out there a few times solo this fall winter. Does the mind and body good to kick back in the bush from time to time. Other than using my Swiss Army knife to open a couple cans, I brought my Tops Longhorn to do some splitting which I was very impressed with for its size. Mark and I don’t get together too often so it often involves some trades…I came home with an EK Commando knife and a Coldsteel Voyager XL which is one heck of a folder. I also passed around some balisong forks and spoons for fun.

By the way I really didnt use the EK for lunch.

Since you gave me that Bali-spoon, I will now be able to deploy eating utensils with a flair beyond what most mere mortals can manage.

LOL!! The coyotes have settled into neighborhood woods here on the mountain

Looks like a great trip! Thanks for sharing! Brings back memories of when I was younger and had more time and energy, mostly time but still...(I'll be 60 my next birthday) when I'm out than just capture illustration images and harvest various roots, berries, and leaves for the extracts I make. If your friend like Eks, I have one up for sale in the exchange I'd like to sell.

It was a good trip. :)

My friend does like the Ek knives now that he has held one, but I think he might have to wait a bit before grabbing more of them. ;)
