Well, I've given it my best google-foo and got...nothing.

Just got this knife in and perhaps someone here has come across the maker in the past. Seller didn't know specifically, but claimed German maker. Got it at auction for about $75.

Unknown SS blade etched with RG in Fraktur script, oak leaves above and below the letters. Weighs in at a hefty 280g/10oz. Blade stock is 6mm/.24". BL 94mm/3.75" and OAL 21cm/8.5"

Sheath (nicely made) marked JP (hopefully not meaning Just Pakistani), possibly JPL or JLP.

All grinds well executed and symmetrical, as is the general fit and finish. Handle made with two generous slabs of stag, brass bolsters which show some discoloration from the knife obviously having been stored in the sheath. A detail like the nicely countersunk lanyard tube leads me to believe that someone took great care in making this. No markings on the obverse blade side, so I didn't bother with another pic.

Sooo....anyone?

I wish I could help, but I will say that this appears to be a very nice and well-crafted knife (and sheath). Certainly not "junk" in the sense of the typical "tourist" knives that many people ask about.

Agreed looks to be well made. Cannot help with it. So many makers out there that we have not heard of.

True that, and my best guess so far as well. This might turn into a necro thread where 10, 15, 20 years down the line someone pipes up "oh, good old RG, used to know him well. Made some nice blades in his day." :)

In the mean time, I've done some cutting with it, and it's pretty good. It's got a shallow hollow grind on it and isn't thick behind the edge, so it does cut rather well for a saber grind. Not sure if the pics I posted show, but apart from the distal taper it has a bit of a swedge as well, so the point is rather, uh, pointy.
