2005 was a very good year. Nicely matched scales from the new Idaho factory production. Good work Buck.

That is a cool golden cap lifter keychain accessory. Aluminum, but looks like brass, so very light weight.

Oregon, cool pictures... Now I want one for Christmas... We didn't get any of those down here in San Diego...

I wish they would do a 112 and 110 again... A 110 with a different 50th stamp, for sure...

Cool stuff Steve...

I bought one at San Marcos walmart, also one in Jan of this year for $30 on ebay. Now someone wants over $100 for one! This is the set with the cheesy nylon sheath.........

That was my very first 110, that very tin set. Unfortunately I didn't think about saving it as a collectible and didn't take as good of care of it as I now do with my Buck knives. That very keychain has been used as a keychain since then to this day and is in my pocket now. I broke my tip off of the 110 (using it as a pry bar) and sent it back to Buck for a reblade and it now has a 2012 blade(so no more Idaho stamp) and I have given it to my 9 year old son, so it's his first 110 also. The tin still sits on my dresser with other knives in it and is a little bent and I cannot for the life of me find the sheath. I noticed that you didn't show a pic of your sheath? Did this set not come with a sheath?? Maybe I have been looking all over for a non-existent sheath? I agree, out of the several 110's I now own, and out of the 110's I've seen, this years scales really stand out.

Cheap nylon sheath was under the piece that held the knife and keychain!

I just moved to San Marcos again... I have only seen the china ones so far in the big box stores... In Fontana, CA I never seen any... But I wasn't collecting yet... When I moved out to Fallbrook, CA I didn't know anything about the tin Sets or Christmas Buck knives... I started collecting in 2007 and found the forum... So when I did find out about them, they were all long gone... I still never did see any but on the bay...

Do you live in San Marcos...

Here is the minimalist sheath, kept under the black fuzzy stuff insert that embraced the card, keychain and the knife. Notice that the mfg white tag is missing... I didn't touch it.

I sure don't remember mine ever having a sheath. It's possible I threw away the black fuzzy stuff, and never noticed the sheath and threw it away too as new as I was to knives in 2005. At least it wasn't a leather sheath.

I sure like them, Ive only ever picked up one tin.......shear neglegence on my part. My bolsters were orange when I opened er up to check it out. Little wrights took care of that.

Hey oregon, I never noticed, is that a horizontal carry sheath too?

ITE, I asked Larry to consider posting a photo of his you know what to the forum and he doesn't do photographs. So it is now solely up to you. Yes it is. Uh huh. Christmas present? Have you been good? :) Never mind as I already know the answer to that question. Will Leroy shuttle one for you I wonder?

These first year production Idaho knives are the cat's meow. You might think that it would take some lead time in order to bring production quality up to speed. Nope. Great cutlery produced from the jump. Love that Idaho tang stamp.

iamfritz, is your sheath missing the little white tag that usually discloses the country in which the sheath was produced? Mine looked like it was neatly cut off.

I dont think so but I havent had it out of the tin since I cleaned it and put it back in the tin, I'll have to check tonite when I get home. If I had to guess just on sheer recolection, I'd bet it says mexico.

Oregon, if we or I show it... Then everyone in my area will be looking for one like it and you won't get one... In time my friend, in time...
The Next one is yours if I find one(I4Bucks want's one to)... But you asks first... I'm looking for the small one too... You should call me...
Take care and have a great day... :)

Don't you think Buck should make a new Christmas tin set with a special 50th 110 and a special sheath just for Christmas... Oh yea... :)

I have a feeling Buck is going to enjoy the final numbers on the 110 when they come in at the end of 2014. I would bet 110 sales to be up quite a bit.
I know I have never added this many new current year 110's to my collection. I tend to add more vintage 110's and stag 110's, but it looks like I will have added at least 20 of the different 50th anniversary 110's by the end of the year.

A "Christmas" tin set would raise that number up to at least 22. :)

Yes imafritz the sheath supports horizontal belt carry even on this big thick farm store belt. Good spot on your part. I like this as long as the snap holds shut. BTW, I'm on my last notch, getting smaller so I can carry more cutlery and less gut!

The horizontal carry is growing on me, esp if I'm doing alot of driving. I'd like to see a sturdier cordura sheath. The ecolites are ok but none of mine carry horizontal

I think this was the last good Christmas knife that Walmart carried; the next year the All China made Steak knife in the leather box and than no more special runs for Walmart as they went with Winchester China knives.:)
