Idea for a thread.

I see how many picture threads are on here, but I had a thought of having one thread titled "The Blade Forum Museum." The thread would be where all of you pick ONE knife of your collection to be shown. Your most absolute, no argument, definitively your prized possession. Treat it as a curator came to your home to start this museum and said "We would like for you to participate in our museum, but you may donate only ONE knife."

Just an idea.

Sounds good to me. I'd participate.

My advice for the future, if you get an idea for a thread, just go for it. The worst that happens is people don't participate, or they point out it's been done recently, or it gets locked for violating the rules. Either way, no harm done, and being new here I think folks would give you a pass :) . There's always a learning curve when a person is new to a forum.

What people here tend to frown on is new members starting several threads a day in the same sub-forum. And posting in threads that are several years old, thereby bumping them to the top.

It's a great idea and I've already made my entry. One suggestion though - no duplicates. Nobody wants to see a museum thread with a buttload of the same knives.

Good idea! Not sure what knife I would post but I'm sure that this thread will have me spending money once I see the cool knives that others post! :D

I like the idea. The problem is that favorites change. Plus, I have favorites for different purposes. How can I prefer an 8" fixed blade over a 4" folder ?

The OP says not one word about posting your favorites or preferences. It does ask for your most prized possession, and specifically asks for participants to post only one knife. Nobody can make you respect the OP's request, but it would be polite.

Treat it as a curator came to your home to start this museum and said "We would like for you to participate in our museum, but you may donate only ONE knife."

Most prized is most favorite for me. Not all of us think immediately in terms of $$$. Very polite of you to speak for the OP, BTW. I'm out then. Carry on.

My Grampa Denman's hunting knife.
I don’t want to muddy up the other thread. Pretty sure that it’s a KA-BAR you should start a thread about it in the KA-BAR sub forum. It’s a “Coke Bottle” pattern. It’s a great knife.

It's part of that family of knives, and you nailed the description; but it's not a Ka-Bar.
This knife is from the mid-twenties.
