Idea for Monday morning feeding frenzies?

Hi, y'all.

I am suffering through the wait for a GSO 5.1, 4.7 and 7/7. I'd like to get another 5.1 and I tried the last two Mondays but I was not successful. Apparently, there are a ton of others in the same boat. I've seen a number of posts where people don't have the time on Monday morning to sit in front of the computer and wait. Plus, the knives go fast with all those that are interested.

I have an idea that might make it easier for more people to get in on this. It might sound scary but I get the feeling that the group of people on these threads are a decent sort...

How about we partner up? Say we had TWELVE interested people but only THREE that had the time on Monday.

One possible idea:
If the THREE each took the order of three of the remaining TWELVE (for three groups of four people ordering) and placed one order for all four we could reduce the chance of people missing out because they weren't fast enough. The money could be sent up front (have some faith!) to the THREE via PayPal and returned if they weren't successful. Or if the individual THREE feel they could cover the cost and get reimbursed right away, that could work, too. In this scenario, if someone fell through on paying back the cost I am sure the person placing the order could sell it and get their money back!

The THREE take care of shipping the orders to their respective owners after and, of course, have the shipping costs covered by the recipient! Shouldn't need much packaging done!

Worst case, no one gets anything. Best case, all twelve people get an order in with only needing three "places in line". Even if only one of the THREE gets their order placed, that's four people who get Survive! bliss!

There are variations on this. We could do it geographically, by model and options to make it easier to configure quickly, etc.

Just a thought. Won't hurt my feelings if this sounds like madness!

I'm sure there are decent gents here that are willing to form an alliance in the sake of mutual benefit. I was just thinking of something similar myself when the 4.7s get released. I will most likely be back to work when those go on sale and i will, most likely, be way too busy to get on my phone midday, especially considering the times will be random.

Hmmm....... that sounds like a stretch to say the least :D

Ellie has said that sale times will change to help work shifts and time zones. If the next one is at 5:00 pm and the next one at 9:00 pm (or something like that) maybe there will be some hope!

I do like your brainstorming for camaraderie and GSO'S for all!

Another option that might help is a group text. I understand some folks might not be at a computer but if one person was available to watch the site on a Monday, and had a pre made text group on their phone then a simple go sent via text to those on that list would at least notify them they were available.

How would a newbie get in on a group buy or a group text? I'm new here and it took me two weeks to figure things out, but I haven't been accepted to the FB fan page yet. How would you get in on one of the inner, inner circles? If it's not something organized/sanctioned/endorsed by S!K it will only add to confusion and frustration (do I join a group, do I go it alone?)

I get the desire to work something out, and this seems to be coming from a place of trying to help, but let's please not do something to make things worse for Guys and Ellie! As Ellie says, let's give the new tweaks time to work before we toss it out.

I'm sure some enterprising person will just spam buy all they can and then repost them for sale at a slight profit if the demand keeps up like this.

Based on what Ellie said I believe she expects things to calm down after the first few sales clear up the waiting back log.

People have mentioned the fear of this happening for years and (I'll admit I could be totally wrong here), but I just have not seen that happen. Sure there's a tool on ebay who continues to repost a GSO 10 for $450 or $500 or something ridiculous and some people feel comfortable selling a GSO for $100 more than they bought it for... I don't really agree with that, but if someone is happy to buy it then I guess it's a win-win, but anyways I have not seen a flood of people trying to earn a living by reselling SURVIVE! knives.

I feel bad bringing this up again, but I'm relatively new to the SURVIVE! scene, yet some of ultra new guys freaked out about the Monday sales selling out. Back in the day, once a run had sold out there would be months and months and months before another run of that same knife. When I first heard of SURVIVE! I knew my grail knife was the GSO 5. I had this realization over a year before it was available directly through the company. I would have been overjoyed just to have a CHANCE to get one EVERY Monday. I do apologize for another rant in this already rant-filled week, but I wanted to share my point of view and give a little more perspective to those who are just getting involved.

Chins up, boys. Things are moving forward and I really believe the best is yet to come.

Things should start changing once all of the wrinkles get ironed out. I do hope that purchasers will only be allowed 1 knife at a time to keep it a fair game.
If it does get out of hand, I'll be more than willing to help you all out.

Maybe it's too small of a demand yet. It's the model Hinderer works on. I just refuse to pay the high prices, but at the peak, Hinderer would sell the Xms $350-$450 roughly, and they would insta-sell $800+. He did a lottery at a show once to buy the a specific knife, and the guy who won sold it for 2x as much within 10 minutes of winning it.

I have a couple original numbered DLC coated blades from back in 2013. Not my first rodeo with S!K.

I definitely didn't realize how other models from other companies got that out of hand, but just going off of what I've seen personally with SURVIVE! I haven't noticed any patterns like that.

Wow 2013? You have more experience than I do for sure. Enjoy those numbered blades. You should post some pics in the pic thread!

I had a thread a few days back with 5.1 #187 Black DLC, I don't have any more pics. My other is a 3.5 #81 also Black DLC. Both are safe queens.

I should take some pics I guess, they are rare enough I suppose! I was planning on getting a bunch of pics up so I can list them for sale on my next day off :)

Yeah! A family pic just for fun would be awesome. Your 5.1 us awesome and it would be cool to see both. Good luck with the sale!
