would it make sense to have exposed spine for long blade like the TNT?

ex; same as what David did for my BB13

I don't know why it couldn't make sense. Every idea has a particular reason for existing. This is a new blade, a new ide and some myself included are thinking "how in the fk does it work, what will it work with, where does it call home in a perfect world and how do we coexist in a world of optimal parity of oneness?" ~ I'm feelin gravy waves of utopia on them vibes brother~Be you 😎
That open back is a natural for a BB13 hands down. In the hand will guide us where it needs to go ;)

Open back will definietely increase the speed of drawing and re-sheathing a long blade like TNT

Open back works, but requires using a retention strap which might not suit the tnt for everyone

i imagine it deploying easier but looking a little funky for a thinner straight blade

think its kind of similar to why we dont see too many open back rucki/ak sheaths, could be cool though

David Brown David Brown what do you think? would it make sense

I definitely can do my original exposed spine design.
I have been doing it for over 18 years.

I have made them for all kinds of swords, and knives of all sizes.

it does work if you want to carry strong side and do not want to have to draw into your armpit :)

It does require a retention strap to hold the sword in there ................for the most part.

I have made some sheaths with spring like retention on the handle.

My honest opinion though and what I would do, carry cross draw or saber carry in a fully enclosed sheath like they have done for centuries.

I hope to have my TNT's early next week fingers crossed, I ordered the very first day within seconds of them going live, and got in on the first shipments.

Myself, David is gonna make me a custom mutant canvas sheath stenciled SYKCO above my JYD 105. It will be unique, that’s for sure. Other than that the inspiration is his.

Agree with Mr. Brown. The ideal carry style has stood the test of time. Cross draw or baldric.
