Idea on keeper strap modification(will it work?)

I'm thinking about a way to make sure a kepper strap springs out of the way so it isn't likely to get cut.

I've got some 3oz leather that I will glue and sew together for the strap.That way the strap will have two finished sides.I was wondering if a strip of material like maby thin kydex could be placed inside so that it runs just short of the stud slot.I am hoping the kydex will give it enough spring so that it will open up on release and stay out of the way of the blade edge when inserting the knife.

Any of you ever made a strap in this way?

I have seen folks put some shock (bungie) cord on them to make sure they spring out of the way. Your idea Might have some promise. It would also keep the strap from actually being damaged if it is cut, as the kydex would most likely not be cut.

I have used Kydex in a strap for the same reason. It worked okay.
