I`m going to run an idea past you guys to get your opinions on whether to even give it a try. I`m thinking of a contest to design your perfect EDC Knife.

Here are the spec restrictions:
No more than 7" overall
No taller than 1 1/4" at the highest point (design must be able to be made from 1 1/4" stock)
1/8" thick O1 steel
Standard handle materials

Here is the catch. I was going to charge $10 for each entry (you can enter more than once, but it`s $10 for each entry). The designs would be voted on by your peers here on BF. If you don`t win, and still want your design made, the price would be reduced by $10.

Dumb idea? I don`t know, but it`s a chance to get a handmade knife for $10. If there is enough interest, I will go forward with it.
 
Im more of a 'draw by numbers' kind of guy. While I love the idea of a $10 JK, I would drive myself crazy trying to create my own knife.
 
Just thought I would toss the idea out there. I'll leave it for a week or so to see if there are more interested.
 
Not sure I should with EDC King jds1 playing, but what the heck, in for two fins.
 
Not a dumb idea at all.

I'm not sure I can be creative enough to come up with a "perfect" EDC. I'll have some free time on my hands over the next week so I'll try.
 
It sounds like fun - heck, I'd be in for $10 just to see what others come up with, knowing that I have no chance of winning against proven competition...

Now I'm going to need to go back and ID who's designs I have tried, aside from the Rule #9 EDC (which I'm digging) and Toby's Knife, which has gotten a lot of use.

Yep, tough competition.
