If you all could make changes to the Delica what would you do?

I would like to see the Delica with a flat ground blade and maybe a new handle color(dk green) or new handle material(dk green G10 or micarta).

I wouldn't mind seeing Delicas in other colors again but I don't want to see a change in handle materials. That would make the Delica a much more expensive knife. Flat grind, however, is a good idea, but then it would be in conflict with the Calypso jr.

I think it' s doing just fine. Maybe some grooves cut into the blade spine behind the hole is a nice addition. And yes, of course some different colors for a change of pace.

The Delica I've been waiting for is the drone. Sal says it'll be here this month.

I also would love to see the different colored handles.

I'm with nakano. Make it much more expensive, and it's not really a delica anymore! Handle colors are cool, though.
I love flat grinds, and would pick up a flat-ground delica if doing that didn't increase cost so much that I might as well pick up a lightweight Calypso Jr.

My impression is that for manufacturing purposes, it's much cheaper to do those shallow hollow grinds than Calypso/Military style flat ground.

I still want a glow-in-the-dark handle!!

Why stop at the handle? Why not a glow-in-the-dark blade too? Make that sucker outta uranium.

I would like to an upscale version with G-10 handle, flat ground CPM-440 blade.

Dude - Check out the discontinued Spyderco "Standard". It has the Delica configurations in G-10. Now things would be really cool if the knives are sold in colourful FRN handles!

I'll go for a Delica if it is ever made with titanium liners, liner-lock, G-10 scales with SS bolsters and CPM 440V!

Some interesting input.

Colors are already in motion with the blue Delica coming out late this year. More may follow depending on reaction.

Flat grinds are about the same to do as hollow grinds.

Joe, I agree with you. The Calypso jr is the same size.

The problem with flat grinds (spine to edge)is that they do not sell as well as hollow grinds. We've noticed this on seveal models where we played with both.

When the flat grinder is used to create "sexy grind lines" like some of the Benchmade pieces, they are very popular. This leads me to believe that "eye candy" ranks high in that area.

When I design flat grinds (Military, Calypso, G10 Police, etc.) I prefer spine to edge grinds. but I'm after the performance in most of my designs.

Cutler, I agree. If we're going to go for the performance in a flat grind 3" (approximate) folder, the smaller Military will do that well.

Nakano, you are not the only person making this request. Time to look into it.

Steve, the Delica trainers are out. I got mine yesterday.

I'd also like to see more handle colours. I've carried a blue Delica (old style) for about 3 years, and would like to have one in the new design.

I have never seen a Blue Delica. I would like to have one now!!!!
Used,new,50/50,plain or serrated,it makes no difference to me.
Sal, Do you happen to have one in the nooks and crannies?
Any one else have one they no longer have to have, please let me know.

Sal,

Thanks. I just ordered my trainer tonight.

I have a feeling that I'll be ordering a lot of these.

I too would like to see it in more colors and will most likely buy the blue when it comes out.

Disco Stu: as a nuclear engineer I feel obligated to tell you that Uranium can not glow. It just doesn't work that way.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Regarding flat and hollow grinds.... the nice hollow grinds are one of the things I like the MOST about the Spyderco line. I know, I know... flat cuts better.

Not for me. Give me a hollow grind any day... unless I'm gonna use it as a prybar.

Hollow grinds work just as well, if not better than flat grinds! Providing that they are ground thin and high enough, their slicing performance can equal those of flat grinds. Just take a look (better yet try to use) at Bob Doziers fix blade hunters/ utilities with D2 at 61 rockwell. Nuff said!

Food for thought: can a Busse Mean Street at 1/4" stock flat grind cut better than if it was at a high hollow grind??
