So my current edc is a spyderco paramilitary 2. Its a great blade very sharp very dependable but im looking for something new. There are a few features id really like to have and was wondering if anyone knew of a good high quality knife that would have these features:
1. Lock back (like a traditional folder)
2. Clip point blade like a bowie or kabar length can be anywhere from 3-4.5 inches and preferably stainless or satin finish and a very good steel and plain edge
3. Micarta or g10 handle scales with a good grip contour and maybe jimping
4. Right handed Tip up pocket carry
5. Some sort or thumbhole or durable stud and or and emerson wave style opener.

Price isnt a big concern since im willing to wait and save up to buy a folder that comes close to perfect for me. Any thoughts and opinions are highly appreciated thanks in advance guys

Lockback + pocket clip + no zytel = cold steel in my book, especially if you want a clip point blade. The benefit of the triad lock is it's strength. The downsides are it requires a longer handle and the lock is tough to disengage

Thanks guys. Im more concerned with a one handed or relatively fast opening than i am about closing it one handed

Recon 1 would tick the boxes, but if you can handle an Axis lock, the Crooked River by Benchmade would be my recommendation. It has a big fat stop pin, similar to the Adamas. It is a seriously tough, yet elegant knife.

Thats a nice one. what do you think of the cold steel voyager?
There's a knife !
I really like these and practically free (< $100) if you can find one. I think there are still some on vendor's sites. At least try the big river starting with "a".

To make the thumb lock more friendly clamp over night. I put an old tire valve stem under the pad of the clamp to push the lock bar even further into the handle. I think over traveling the spring to bend it some and perhaps effect the handle is what happens as opposed to any fatigue to the spring.
anyway :

PS: not as fast or easy to open compared to the Para.
one has to kind of plan it (get thumb and grip right) and from there open all the way with thumb or with some wrist one can flick it open.
The pivot action is first class to me. Press the lock bar (not hard after the clamp, clamp) and the blade drops and swings on bronze bushings that are just right. Heat treated 6061 aluminum liners    (I like A LOT !)

Nice. Like i said i love the para 2 it is easy to open, sharp, pointy, and easy to close but ive just traded my kabar fighting knife for an AK-47 bayonet and i want something reminescent of the kabar blade but also a folder so i can carry it

Thanks for the input. The crooked river looks nice but im not a fan of the wood handles

the Voyagers aren't fun flickers / fidget toys but they are very good work knives that are super light and plenty durable and a good handle if you have wet or sweaty hands. This is one knife you won't drop or have knocked out of your hand.
The BD-1 steel has done well for me; I like that too.
hahaha some say the recurve blade on the little on' is ugly but I even like that too.

I'm not saying don't get the Bush Ranger.
The Bush Ranger looks darned good as well !

What are your thoughts on the coldsteel SR-1?

I don't have one so anything I say is to be taken with a grain of salt.
This is a very durable knife (more so than the Voyager but is heavier though)
0.59 inch handle thickness I like (could use some sculpting)
0.17 inch (4.3mm) blade thickness too thick for me I like 2.2mm or so but good luck finding one . . . I grind mine)
I like the hook on the end of the handle so you don't drop the knife when holding it loosely at your side.
I'm not a big fan of S35VN though it is better than BD-1. If I am going super steel I will go with 3V or M4 but S35VN is good stuff and easier to sharpen than S30V. Nothing is a big deal to sharpen as long as you are using diamonds so I would go S30V over S35VN.
Made in Taiwan, as far as fit and finish, is a plus in the knife world . . . better than Golden I find.
When the knife is closed there is an open gap between the finger guard in the handle and the end of the blade. Visually that bugs the hell out of me and seems to be a mark of Demko designs. Pure esthetics though . . . if it doesn't bother you ignore me.

Spyderco Stretch 2.
Not clip point, but it checks all others I think.
ZDP-189 takes a great edge.
There are third party scales.

Edit: The blade shape can be modded. See below :)

I like Miso's idea of the stretch, and I'll add the Manly Peak in s90v or D2. The Peak is a full flat grind but has a back lock, thumbhole opener and g10 scales with a tip up clip. I don't own one of these (yet) but I have seen some positive reviews of them. I do own a Manly patriot in CPM154 that I love, it has a fantastic heat treat that cuts for days so I can vouch for their quality.

May not be as fancy of steel, but check out some of AG Russell knives.
