Hey guys! First and foremost, I'm a kid. I have limited funds. But I love a good knife, and sometimes, in this neck of the woods, they're hard to find. So...that said...I'm looking to start making my own. I picked up a hunk of steel today, 4063 to be precise, from a local store. It's the only thing available around here. Ive recently fallen to the love of a blade type I've found, the kiridashi. I seem to think it would be a good utility blade, something one would keep on a keychain, for opening letters and boxes, sharpening pencils, simple stuff. Would it be a good starter knife? How hard is the steel referenced to heat treat? How would i go about heat treating? Thanks as always -Tinker
