Ideas for fixed blade tactical

I'm looking for a fixed blade tactical knife... but can't find anyhthing that just cries out "buy me!" ...was looking at the AM SERE operator, BM Nimravus, SOG Seal, SOG Trident, Fallkniven A1, CS UWK as well as the older AM SOF Attack knives such as the 4000, but I couldnt find the right combo of shape, blade material and color, handle shape and material, and sheath. So, perhaps I'd be better off having a custom knife made, as I was willing to spend upwards of 200 anyway.

These are the ideal qualities that it would possess:

size: 9-12" overall, 4-7" blade

blade shape: like the Almar fighting knives but with a sharpened false edge, CS and SOG look a bit gaudy to me, Fallk looks too plain, and the BM's look too much like folders

blade characteristics: strong as the SOG seal, full tang, visible through handle like Spyd Bob Lum tanto, nimravus, or sere 4000 sof attack, with a finish like the trident or the lum tanto (mirrored for now, with a possibility of later model with boride carbon coating)

blade material: VG-10, S60v(CPM440v), or S30v(ATS34/154CM) ultra hard, strong, good edge-holding... nothing less!

handle shape: contoured to the average size hand, fills the palm for a secure grip

handle color: needs a customized look, but in black, perhaps a combo of black anodized aluminum bolster/pommel with shape as seen on the SERE 4000/SOF Attack, but meshed with a rubberized non-slip grip, in a similar fashion that the elishewitz or LCC folders blend carbon fiber with rosewood, titanium, and aluminum

handle material: something grippy and weatherproof like kraton, but more pleasing to the eye, definitely none of that G10 plastic crap

overall: build quality of a spyderco, affordability of cold steel (I know, not likely, but what the heck!), nice mix of form and function... hey, I'm no friggin navy seal, just a knife fanatic, so I would want the darn thing to look pretty and mean as well as make a cut, after all, looks are the first thing to attract us humans!

sheath material: kydex/ballistic nylon for concealment/quick release, but with an inside surface that will not scuff/scratch the blade, nor absorb water

ANY IDEAS?? Any custom makers willing to try this? Send me an email if you are... OR does a knife like this already exist?? I appreciate your help, and I think this would be an awesome tactical blade to own. Perhaps us fixed blade addicts should do what the balisong boys did, and design our own "ideal" fixed blade tactical knife. See http://www.1sks.com/store/benchmade-model-35-bladeforums-special-balisong.html Maybe this could be a benchmade or almar future project in collaboration with us knife-nuts!

Here's all you need to know (in my opinion, of course...)
Bob Dozier. Arkansas toothpick.

I have one of these, and it fits my opinion of a fixed tactical blade. The size is just right... a good combination of small for concealment, and large enough to "get the job done". Besides, you get Dozier's legendary D2 and a heck of a good kydex sheath. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

thanks mongo... was considering those already... look like great knives... how does the D2 compare to VG10?

Larry, from what I understand... VG10 is stainless while D2 is somewhat stainless. D2 from Bob Dozier is somehow more magical... must be his heat treat, certainly the legendary Dozier grind. You may be able to find an Arkansas toothpick elsewhere online without the wait. Otherwise, the wait is still worth it. The only place that I can think of at this moment is www.agrussell.com However, they show it with the over the shoulder sheath, which I have no experience with.

Check out rfrigaultknives.com
My favorite carry knife is Rick Frigault's
Shodan Guarded model. The handle fits the hand perfectly and the blade is razor sharp.
The price is right too.
Check it out!

great input... the doziers look awesome, and I'm a bit biased towards the NY Special! hmmmmm... although could get the spydie FP AND the Fallkniven F1 both for less than 1 dozier... decisions, decisions... help! maybe just get all of em... eventually!

You'll NEVER go wrong with the Dozier. One Dozier is easily worth two lesser knives. (no knock on the spyderco or Fallkniven). I've handled the New York special, but do not have one. I like the Arkansas toothpick a little better than the NYS because of the handle ergos, plus it has a slimmer blade. The NYS has a little more stout of a feel. But.... it IS a Dozier! It is definately worth the money, so don't get hung up on price.
Let us know what you get.

Well, it's Christmas time and all, so I think I've decided to ask Santa for the Dozier KM-1 Ranger, after some thorough decision making... more expensive, yes, but I think the larger size will suit my likes more than the small NYS or Arkansas Toothpick... went to a non web-based store this afternoon to actually put my mitts on some production knives... felt the SOG Trident (VERY fat blade, and good weight in the hand, but upon closer examination the worksmaship on the blade was noticeably sloppy... very lopsided grind, and asymmetrical lines! anybody else notice that on SOG's... I was surprised, given the cost); spydies seemed nice as always, and the almar operator felt a bit hollow and plasticky, although the craftsmanship of the blade was a lot nicer. Seal Pup from CS looked cool... they didnt have any Fallknivens though... how does the Dozier KM-1 feel Vs. the Trident or Operator, for weight, agility, balance?

actually went with the Hankins Moxie over the dozier... the rfrigault skeeter necknife looks pretty cool too.

...A Seal Pup made by CS (Cold Steel)? The Seal Pup that I have is made by SOG. BTW...I have a SOG Trident (I had 2 of 'em but recently traded one for an Ontario/Bagwell Hell's Belle :)), and the grinds and workmanship on both of mine were/are perfect.

The Arkansas Toothpick is a great knife. The price has gone up a lot though. I bought the Toothpick with a custom length handle and added the IWB sheath...all for the cost of what the standard Toothpick goes for now. :D Of course that was about 3 years ago.
