I am looking at getting a custom knife done by any of the knife makers on the BF forum. I really want a damascus blade. Curently leaning towards a kitchen knife (gyuto) or outdoors knife. Any ideas would be great appreciated regarding design or maker.

Like a lot of things, it depends on how much you want to spend. Dan Graves made and sold this beautiful carver here in the Custom Fixed Blade section. I think I payed a little over $300+ for it.

Phillip Patton made this San Mai chef's knife for me for a little more. His Damascus is top notch too.

Or you could bid in one of Bob Kramer's auctions and maybe pick up something like this for $50,000+.

I use Japanese laminated steel and use this Damascus suminagashi which is 11 mild steel layers per side and a high carbon steel core, here's a sample

Amazing! I am actually looking to have a couple damascus blades done. However, I am farily new to the BF community and would love some input from others.

What do you mean by "outdoors knife" - hunter, camp knife, bowie, other? Budget?

Meh. Nothing see here. Move along.
A fair number of guys on here mess with that funny looking steel. :D
