I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going with my future website. However I would like to welcome suggestions for ideas on what you would like to see. Throw out any ideas you may have and let see what you want.

I want to include product reviews, trips/training I do, very detailed how tos, and even some military information for some of those who just wonder why or how some stuff is done.

The site is still in its photoshop phase so theres nothing to look at currently but during my downtime while I'm on leave will be trying to get it up and running.

Thanks for any input thrown in

A section on basic survival would be great for people like me who know little about the subject.

Knot how to diagrahms. General usage & how to make laynards & bracelets & what not.

include priorities in a survival situation. first aid videos would be nice, although an article or so would be good enough. i can't agree more that knots is a must. recommendations on tools/gear. check out http://www.survivaltopics.com/

Well there are a number of Survival sites out there already, some of them very very good. Is there a specific area (nitch) that you are looking to fill? Because there are dozens of boards, forums, and sites that are dedicated to survival, some with really great info, some with info that is likely to get you killed. What is your plan to pull your self out of the crowd of noise, and set your site apart?

There was a very old outdoor and survival site, Outdoor Magazine (NOT the current magazine!!) that was located in France (I think) that had TONS of great survival articles, yet was shutdown a while back by the host/web designer. Strictly due to lack of traffic and time to maintain the site. (I think the content of the site is still available on archive servers).

I guess I just don't see what you are offering that is different from WS&S here, or FrugelSquirel or WildSurvive or WoodsMonkey or RAT cutlery or..... to mention a few. How many sites are doing gear reviews? How To's? Long term/short term survival? Book reviews? These things are all being activitly done.....

I guess I sound like a jerk, raining on your idea, but there is a LOT of noise out there about survival at the moment. What are you going to offer that makes your site different from all the others?

It sounds like a great idea and could teach people some valuable info. Check out www.itstactical.com, they're a couple SEAL's that have a similar format. They also have a lot of E/E, self-reliance info and techniques.

Semper Fi brother!

basic survival how-tos... and military info is always good.. would have to say the military channel is becoming a new fav.

I think it is critical that when including military and how to info, you never assume that the person reading the text has ANY expereince at all. Define all terms as plainly as possible and have someone that has no really outdoors/survival experience review it.

One aspect often overlooked on the survival sites is the psychological aspect of survival.

Topics such as handling solitude and isolation. The survival inventory. How to keep focused over the long term.

Team concept also seems to be undercovered on such sites. It is much easier to survive for a length of time if one has formed and works with and as part of a team. Life is much tougher as a lone survivor or evader.

Really trying to keep this a personal site. I am NOT a pro at this stuff so I will get alot of experience as I'm learning everything and will be able to thrown in alot of insight of how to do some stuff that the average person doesnt know. Detailed pictures and diagrams will be a large part.

I'm lacking in knot experience and knowledge... so this will be a great learning experience and a good idea

Navigation techniques and trapping would be my favorite.

I have quite a bit of experience on Land Nav, GPS, MGRS, etc. I need to get some hands on with UTM but the rest I'm good on. Trapping, ive never done but I'm gonna get on it this summer and get a good idea.

An area for recommended books would be good.

Good idea

First aid videos...thats a good idea

Because I enjoy the outdoors/survival scene.....plain and simple

I dont care if 1 or 1000 people read it. I'm doing this for my enjoyment and learning experience. .... however, im not into alot of these websites that lack alot of detail on things like traps, shelters, etc. I will be putting alot of attention steo by step details with pictures and text

If you could make every topic that is on your site useful and/or interesting then I would be happy to visit and read.

There are plenty of topics that you could use:
Paracord
- knot tying
- uses for
- making lanyards
Food gathering
- Plants
- Fishing
- Hunting
- Trapping
Fire
- Fire lighting equipment
- Tinder
- Making fuzz sticks
Knives
First Aid
.
.
.

There is a huge amount you could do - just do one topic at a time and you'll have plenty to do for a very long time.
