I'm looking at buying a knife but have no idea about steel and all that. I want a hefty knife that feels strong and has a macho look to it one that just feels well put together. I want a decent size blade around 4". Folder. I use to have a nice knife that was pretty large it was like a faint tiger stripe grey and black on the blade and handle part if anyone has any idea what that might be as we'll?

Well if you want help you're going to have to add the answer to two more questions to your list of criteria. The first: What do you want the knife to do? The second: What's your budget?

There are plenty of options for large, hefty folders with solid blade steels but knowing those two answers would help immensely.

Google Kershaw Guy. He has some cheap Zero Tolerance blades with the tiger stripe pattern. ZT makes their knives built to last. No problem with macho-ness there

Price range?

Looking to spend around 50- 75 and as to what I'm using it for is. Everyday carry and misc. things like cutting using as a pry bar that kinda thing in these instances where your like oh I need a knife

If you could spare the cash, I would very highly recommend the Zero Tolerance 0200. Seems like it would be a perfect knife for you.

In that case Cold Steel Recon 1, Cold Steel Voyager, they're tough as nails. The tanto blade is much thicker at the tip for prying, although the blade shape may be a little less "easy to live with".

If you need a low budget hard use "macho" knife look at what cold steel has to offer .
p.s it's not a good thing to use your knife as a pry bar but if you must, go for the tanto blades .

Oh, that reminds me, they have a spear-point Recon 1 now, it has a more robust point than the clip point. That spear-point blade shape would be a good compromise of tip thickness and utility.

Yeah in your price range the Cold Steel Recon or Voyager series seem to be the best fit. I would probably throw my heaviest recommendation in for the spear point Recon 1 since the blade shape offers a lot of strength and utility along with a very nice G10 handle and a good sturdy lock. You should have no troubles with that knife, just make sure you have a way to sharpen it since that's critical with any knife!

These are both a little above your range, but it may be worth considering saving up $20 more for them...
Zero Tolerance 0700
Zero Tolerance 0200ST

If you're going to be prying with them, ZT 0200 does have a large and solid pivot. The blade is pretty thick and sports a high flat grind. I don't have first-hand experience with the 0700, but that model does have a tanto blade. Every ZT I've handled has been built like a tank, and I wouldn't expect otherwise from the 0700.

Get a small pry bar for that, and a knife for cutting. Using a knife as a pry bar is just asking for trouble.
