I personally don't know what to classify this blade as but I have one that is very similar to it. Handle has metal "bolted" onto one side and the scabbard is also plated on only one side with the upper part being held on by lockwire and the frog is bolted into the scabbard. The karda and chakma are in horrible shape, rusted and wood split. The blade however of the kukhri is engraved in much the same design as yours though. I had purchased this item on Ebay (the most evil thing on the internet these days) and paid about $30.00 for it not including shipping.

Bernard, I would have to agree that this is a Nepalese Tourist type khukuri. Good for show but not much else. Prices quoted in this forum have been $15-30 USD, but I would imagine that one could get this even cheaper in Nepal. This one looks to be in better condition than most, so you might be able to get $15-20 USD for this.

Hope this helps

Harry
