Identification please. Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Co. Diamond Edge stone??

An older guy I know gave me two sharpening stones and I can't seem to find any info on one of them. It feels very smooth so it's probably a very high grit, it's brown, and reads "norvell shapleigh hardware company" diamond edge. Although this definitely is not a diamond stone.

Can someone fill me in on what this is?

"Diamond Edge is a quality pledge" That's a Shapleigh trademark, not an indication of the stone. They made cutlery back in the day, not sure if they still do, or exist at all.

Did you get the embossed aluminum box for it? These are collectables. If not antique, at least vintage.
