due to his beard if he was in the army he would have to be a d-boy (delta operator) (facial hair is not allowed in the regular army but d-boys sometime have to pose as civilians to get into a country)
sorry but i dont know the knife

I've seen him on a history channel show, "Americas Secret Soldiers." It stated he was an ODA memeber. They go around searching for drug warehouses and ammo caches.

Good show, keep an eye out for it on either the HC or the new Military channel.

I suspect it's neither. Somebody just photoshopped Billy Gibbons.

The fixed blade looks like it could be a Randall. Possibly a Model #1 but probably a #14 with a stag handle. The folder looks to be an Emerson but I am unsure of what model.

btw, the soldier in question is with a Special Forces Group that served in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban.

Yeah, the folder is definately a BM. That is a fairly old photo, but K.V. pegged it. Special Forces soldiers sometimes get away with crazy facial hair.

Time used the first picture almost a year ago on an article on SF's. If they reused it with an incorrect caption, shame on them.

I could be mistaken. A year ago seems about right, but I remember the article being about CIA paramilitary operatives.
Maybe I got two different issues mixed up. I didn't save the magazine.
