Identify this footprint found by my Cabin? Sasquatch anyone?

I own a cabin located in northern Michigan (not the UP, just the north part of the LP). On a walk this weekend, my wife and I happened upon what I first assumed were bear prints due to the claws. The weird thing is the foot appears to be very long and bear prints are usually wider than they are long. The Paramilitary II is about 5" long. I don't have a clue what it could belong to...
We were within 500 yards of our cabin walking on our sandy road. I'm keeping the .22 loaded!

Looks like bear to me, man. I'm no expert, but it seems that the foot was almost pulled back across the dirt or something. You never know, perhaps the bear was wounded, old and had a bad leg, etc. Maybe it was smelling around or something. You may never know, perhaps it is BigFoot. Out of all the mythical animals people "see", BigFoot seems to be the one with most eye-witness sightings.

Either way, I say go invest in a bigger gun. :)

When a bear see's a vibram footprint......does he get instantly nervous and look around while walking?

Looks like a bear print to me.

My roomy is a sasquatch redork and she says that it is not a bigfoot print. So I say buy a bigger gun, get your darn knife outta the sand and prepare to have bear for dinner. :D

Bear...and if you're attacked and you use that .22LR on a bear or Bigfoot you'd better not have a large ramped front sight on it cuz it is going to hurt after that bear shoves it up your keester and then you have it removed at the ER!

There you guys go spreading rumors about the trusty old .22lr not being powerful enough for killing bears... I'm sure it happens all the time, but these are the first two stories I found about the interaction between a bear and a .22:

Black Bear Shot and Killed
Carrabelle Woman Shoots Black Bear on Back Porch

Since my .22 is a 10 shooter, I should have no problem as long as their are no more than 3 bears at a time. And if it's a Sasquatch print, then a .22 may be too big because I don't want to ruin any of that delicious meat!
Obviously this proves without a doubt that my

you seriously think a .22 will phase a bear?i understand you CAN kill a bear with a pellet gun doesnt mean i wanna try it... ive seen crackheads walk through hollow point 9mm and 45's sorry i wouldn't go within 50 miles of bear country without some firepower.. at least .45 .40 ...and a shotgun.. i spent over 2 decades up north in bear country never went anywhere unstrapped in the woods... you never know..

Its a bear print that looks narrow becaust it was run over by that car tire print. BTW .22lr is one of the best foraging tools we have and could be pressed into service to kill larger game, but relying on it to do so is not prudent thinking.

Are you crazy!?! A pellet gun is in no way powerful enough for a bear! I would carry something like a .22LR rifle if I was you, it's a lot more powerful than a pellet gun and you don't have to pump it between shots.

Lol, indeed you can kill a bear with a pellet gun, if you do the math.... (alot of it is involved) concerning the wieght of the animal, speed your bullet is moving (velocity) and other things... like where you will hit him.. But honestly if your going to a place where you know you are likely to see one, why not keep a .45 on your side ? a nice colt?? =p

Take it easy guns.. :)

Were-bear. It's true cause I saw it on the internetz!

Only good that .22lr would be for, is if you shoot your wife in the leg while you skedaddled!

In case you guys didn't catch on, I'm playing the part of the internet duche bag with the .22 thing. I meant it as a joke in my first comment and you guys seemed legitimately concerned. I keep a 12 gauge under the bed and always have a pistol in my pocket or on my belt when I'm out in the woods or fishing.

On that same note: Something BIG was scratching on our wood siding just outside our bedroom at 2:00am a few weeks ago. It sounded like it was coming from an area that is about 5' off the ground. My wife woke me up and didn't dare raise her voice above a whisper. I actually got out the shotgun and just sat there for about 2 minutes while huffed and scratched around. When something is wondering if it's worth the trouble to smash into your cabin, it's not a good time to be trusting the couch commandos to minimum ballistics arguments. I like to have my projectiles measured in ounces at that point!
