Hi folks - I have attached some pictures of an old khukuri – anyone have any general pointers or further information about it perhaps?

It has a 12” blade & 5” wood handle; the scabbard is carved & dimpled wood.

What would the steel be quality-wise?

How old do you think it is?

What style & what region is it from?

It reminds me of an old Sirupate or Banspate.

Any & all info would be appreciated!

Thanks, I figured the forumnites here would know something about it.

Have a great New Year's celebration!

Moved to Cantina, since it's not an HI. I'm sure someone will be by some to give you more information.

Thx, Berkley; they do look similar.
One thing else - the khuk in the pic I posted seems wicked fast & very flickable as a slicer - more like an old fighter than a chopper.
Not too familiar with the (relatively) straight, non flared handle; any idea what wood it'd be made of?
The feel & balance on this blade really called out to me though.

Me too - I recognized the pic as soon as you posted it because I'd been watching that one myself:D. Hard to say what kind of wood from a photo - might be Indian rosewood or sandalwood; might be something else entirely. It looks like you got a nice one; enjoy.
