I inherited this kinfe some time ago and am searching for any information on the craftsman that made it. Also, I'd like to get an approximate value for the knife as well.

It is simply marked "LUTES" on the blade and rear of the sheath.
It measures 12 3/4 inches in length (8 inch blade).
Handle is exotic wood with white and brass washers.
Bolster is heavy brass as is the butt with some type of green swirled material inset.
Top of the blade is decorated with some type of ribbed, knurled edge cut into the blade.

Sheath is thick leather with alligator inlaid material.

Robert Lutes.
Google is your friend...;)

There was one at Arizona Custom Knives, with an eagle shaped blade,
now sold.
Got a couple more hits on his knives too, check it out.
Hope that helps a little.
