I just picked up this Spyderco at the gun show and can not find any information on the internet, except it looks like Fred Perrin's design - The La Griffe.

Is this trash, or treasure?

Thanks in advance!

You can't find any info on it because it is a fake. Spyderco did not make it, despite the name on the handle.

Hi Hattori,

I concur with the others. Spyderco did not make that knife. Someone is cheating, it's a fake.....sorry, hope you didn't pay too much for it. If you know the seller, you might report him for fraud. :(

Thank you Sal.
Thank you very much gentlemen. I appreciate your expertise, and fast response.
I had never seen it before, but it was too hard to pass up for $15.

$15 sounds very reasonable for EDC. You can abuse it to the max without having to worry about it. :D

Use it hard ! Use it well !

A 15 dollars ugly knockoff LaGriffe with "Spyderco" written on it without Sal Glesser and Fred Perrin in the loop...
It's not very reasonable.

It's just forgery with a forge ! :(

It something to keep in a counterfeit museum in Golden, Colorado. (I got 3 dollars Sebenza (!!!) I bought in South Africa...I keep it as a benchmark for the real thing...As CRK did not want it ! :D)

But it's not written Chris Reeve on it. I think with "Spyderco" written on your Lagriffe, this is a much serious case of counterfeit product. So it's not only a knockoff, it's attacking the respectability of an enterprise.
Counterfeit is so famous in France we even got a Museum about it ! (No it's not Le Louvre, even if the real Mona Lisa is not the one you can see but a fake...)

Lay out a few $$ and get a Spyderco Spot. Toss the POS. I absolutely hate fakes :(

He already laid out a few $$. It is a shame that someone put the Spyderco name on the knife, but it would be a bigger shame to not at least get 15 bucks worth of use out of the knife.

If you don't think $15 is a lot of money, then give me $15 :D

These are genuine LaGriffes together with genuine Spyderco/Perrin collab fixed blades, the Street Beat and the FB04...............I also now have the original polished blade version with the Black handle............

The non-Spyderco ones are genuine Fred Perrins accumulated over the last 18 months.............clockwise from the top, Perrin with CF handles, ditto with Cocobolo handles, ditto with Grey/Blue Micarta and finally Light Blue G-10...........apart from the Grey/Blue all are Drop Point blades ala Perrin with the former having a Modified Tanto blade.

Regards,

BRIAN
