I picked this up at the NY Renn fair. Its huge but its not like any any slaughter sword I've ever seen. The blade is the right length but the handle is wrong. Normaly they are much longer and thinner, this thing is very wide, can just about get my hand around it. Checked all the makers sites, nothing like it. I'm wondering if its just a one off someone concocted...got a lot of attention carrying it out to the car..lots of sword envy..

The sword is hanging a bit crooked, waiting for another plaque to hange it..it is a bit off though, not the best workmanship but its wall art...maybe one day I'll do something with it to make it a bit better...

This is a reproduction of what is considered as the original William Wallace sword. There have been quite a few makers that have done reproductions, so look for any mark you can find on the blade. There is also a Spanish made decorative piece.

There used to be some good pages a bit more in depth but there have certainly been a lot of forum discussions about them at myArmoury and Sword Forum International.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_Sword The longer essays may be hard to find but there are newspaper articles about the sword as well.

Thanx, there isn't a single mark on the whole thing...he must have been a VERY big person to swing this thing...

Well, Wallace was reputed to be a large seven feet tall.

Stories grow though, even in more modern eras. There was a fellow in the American Revolution that was large, by the standards of those days at six ft six. One long sought for proof and item was a five foot sword supposedly given to the fellow by Washington. While that sword has never surfaced, a dress sword presented to Peter Francisco by Washington does exist and is well cared for.

So, as with the sword assumed to be that of Wallace, there are still a lot of unanswered questions but it is considered a national treasure, despite all legend and lore behind it.

I only found 2 companies that make this exact reproduction..one was over $2000.00..not mine..too bad..the other for $200.00..guess thats mine. Well at least I have an unusual one that is the true to the one in the museum and not the one from the movie.
